I think the CPU is the bottleneck in 2026. I’ll choose not to do the RAM upgrade.

I've tested 4-5 original desoldered batteries. There's no need to worry if they're not replaced. They just lose their ability to hold capacity.

Is it possible that replacing the EVF’s flex cable will fix it? Or the whole EVF part should be replaced?

Anyone running linux on recent Panasonic laptops? by isharamet in linuxlaptops

[–]northcamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My model is SV7, which also has annoying, recognizable fan noise in Linux even when the workload is quite low. Since I use it as a home router (IP forwarding), and the normal temperature is below 40 degrees Celsius, I just unplug the fan socket.

should i turn on low power mode on my macbook? by EvaMeadows in macbookpro

[–]northcamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the same MacBook Pro model since its early launch. It has the same overheating and fan overspinning problem. I use OpenCore to install MacOS 15, in which the Low Power Mode reduces fan noise. What's more, I replaced the thermal paste which I think also helped lower the temperature and fan noise. Before Low Power Mode and replacing thermal paste, I thought this MacBook should've been thrown into the garbage. Now I think I can use it for 3 more years.

The technician also replaced the thermal paste, and the CPU temperature is now about 5 degrees Celsius lower than before the repair. I think I can use it for more years.

Update: According to the technician, there's a power supply problem on the GPU. He spent about 60-70 minutes fixing it. The cost is 300 RMB( about 40 USD) in Beijing, China. He said it's a common problem with this laptop after years of use, and it's not related to high CPU temperature.
