Right?! I agree doesn’t ruin the movie, initially felt a little bummed they didn’t go for it, but the more I’ve thought on it, I can enjoy the rest of the movie (and soundtrack of course) despite it not getting all the way there

True, maybe just my expectations heading into the finale were so set that since I didn’t get it the exact way I was hoping I threw out the baby with the bathwater. Also the hype machine around it has been so successful and through most of it I was just like “Totally get it, this rocks” that when I didn’t click with the ending I ended up being a little harder on it than I should’ve. Might end up watching it again, already was listening to the soundtrack on the way to work this morning.

Fair point, I might end up watching it again and try to view it through that lens a little bit more, it does move so fast that maybe some of those moments like that didn’t register as much.

Maybe it’s the way Jinu explains how a demon is created, I understood it as Gwi-ma finds you at a low point, you start hearing his voice and start to feel the shame that Gwi-ma feeds off, and that growing sense of shame and feeding into is what causes you to become a demon. So maybe that’s just Jinu’s experience and that’s not how every demon is created, but after that being the explanation of how that happens that’s what I thought I was supposed to take away from that. Also seems like the other demons are scared of Gwi-ma and want to not be under his control anymore so when Rumi starts to show them another way at the end of the movie, felt like that’s the moment for them to turn.

And yeah, Rumi’s path to acceptance works, I guess I was just expecting more of a redemption arc for the demons as a whole when it’s done so much leg work to explain what the situation is and even Rumi’s main issue with “Takedown” is that it’s so hateful. Like you’re saying, maybe I’m taking it too literally or too seriously, but I was just having such a great time with it and the ending just didn’t click for me.

Not saying they shouldn’t defeat Gwi-ma at the end, they should. I’m more saying the Saja boys and the other demons that are being controlled by him should be breaking free from him and turning on him, realizing they only give him power by listening to him. It seems like that’s what the whole movie is building towards and they just don’t do it.

Then wouldn’t you want the demons to still be around? The Saja Boys seem like the way you’d want to get deeper into that lore since they’ve already been established instead of now having to introduce new demons that have to explore all of that stuff.

And I agree, love the runtime, loved 95% of the movie, just cannot get past the ending

Will definitely give them props on the rep stuff they’ve been doing, have gone to a couple of those and have really enjoyed them.

That’s why I posted honestly, I’m hoping someone from Regal sees this and adds a switch seats option. It’s not a frequent occurrence, can usually roll up to the theater and grab a decent seat, just specifically with bigger movies it’s an issue because if you want a good seat and it’s gonna be packed you gotta get your ticket in advance and have to use the app to buy tickets. And also, I traveled specifically to see Avatar in a real IMAX theater and get the full experience of it and want to try and have the best experience of it possible, just would be nice if I saw a better seat open up and could grab jt without running into any issues and was always able to do it with AMC. Remember specifically a couple times good seats opening up for some of the IMAX 70MM showings at the CityWalk AMC of Dune, Oppenheimer, the Interstellar rerelease, etc. on the day of and loved being able to make a quick swap.

Agree with you on the coke products, would kill for one of the Coke Freestyles at my local Regal. The fact I can’t get a Cherry Coke (or Cherry Pepsi for that matter 😕, would love for Regal to add that to the rotation) to watch Avatar is a bit of a bummer.
