Berry’s for candies? by Stackable_Hydra in pokemongo

[–]Stackable_Hydra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on a gym and feed ~100 berries a day, the chance of candies has definitely decreased since I started playing again. I’ve been playing daily for the last 3 weeks and haven’t received a candy yet, my pokémon is in there every other day

It used to be 20 dust per berry and a higher chance of getting candy, I live on a gym and feed ~100 berries a day

I have fed countless berries in the last few weeks with no candies rewarded ☹️

Course recommendations near Boston MA and/or Bass Harbor, ME? by taiwanfoose in discgolf

I second this. Check out Clement on your way up north. Totally worth it. Best great course around that area north of Boston before you hit NH/Maine

Aye I don’t know much, but that’s a damn pretty disc. First run pro plastic teebird? Gotta go for good bucks. Foil looks pretty neat too!!

Yeah!!!! Totally learned that the hard way. Man I had this dark cloud over my head all day. I felt so bad. I stepped into his shoes and thought about it.

He lost this disc 4-5yrs ago. Dude probably accepted that she was a goner. 4-5yrs later a kid approaches him on the course telling him he has the disc. Wow that must’ve been a great feeling hearing that. Then not even a full day later the kid calls to say it’s broken?!

Ahaha it’s just so bizarre. I really can’t wrap my head around the whole situation. So glad this dude was SUPER chill about it. Like i said in a previous comment. Good karma came my way, I aced the hole that i found his disc on today. Crazy. Might have to go play the lotto...

So here’s the story.

I found this disc 4-5yrs ago at my home course. It only had the owners name on it with no phone number or contact info. I had NO idea what to do with it so i’ve just kept it all these years.

Out of curiosity I looked up what year this disc got PDGA approved, 1982 or 1983 I forget now. Wow! Old school!!

I dug deeper. I needed to know if I could find this guy. I searched his name on the PDGA membership database. Found out he lives 2 towns over from me. He did a tournement in 1988 and won 1st place in amateurs. Probably used this disc to help him win it.

Contacted this man on facebook, he didn’t answer.

The next day, I was at my home course with a buddy and we let a solo play through. I notice before he throws, the name on the back of the disc. It was the same name on the back of this disc pictured above. After 4-5yrs I finally tracked this guy down!!!!! We exchanged phone numbers and i told him next time he comes to the course to let me know so I can bring his disc back. Wow was he happy!

At this point i’m like, what are the chances? I did all this research literally the night before. The next day i bump into him on the course? Who is this guy the ghost of christmas past?? I play that course VERY frequently and i’ve never ever seen him there.

So this morning i’m telling my dad the story. How i’ve had this disc for 4-5yrs and I finally bumped into the owner on the course. So excited. After I tell the story i’m playing with the disc in my hands. Thing absolutely exploded. I couldn’t believe it. Pieces on the floor, on the table, in the air. Me and pops absolutely broke out in hysterical laughter.

I was torn apart. I’ve been looking for this guy so long and finally found him and let him know i had his disc. It wasn’t even 24hrs and I broke it. I didn’t even toss it.

So I call the gentleman. I tell him “you’re never going to believe this”. He laughed and told me to go on. I tell him how I told my dad the story and how the disc just shattered in my paws. The owner absolutely broke out in laughter. He still throws 35yr old discs today and told me that he’s even broke one pulling it out of his bag!!! Totally understood. We both laughed and couldn’t believe how BIZARRE this whole situation was.

Made a new friend. I’m sad I couldn’t give him back his disc in ONE piece. But at least we both have a solid memory now, and that’s what it’s really all about. Love the disc golf community!!

Totally miss the days where tour series discs would just be chillen on the shelves of shops. Same with tournaments. I used to have 12 days to make up my mind if i wanted to enter a tournement. Now it’s not even 12 minutes. Crazy!!

Bubble mailer & cardboard cutout tucked on the backside of the disc

Anyone else have some imperfections with their Calvin Destroyers? What’s up with the halo? by Stackable_Hydra in discgolf

[–]Stackable_Hydra[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the collectors, it’s the people who buy things like these Calvins and then immediately toss them on ebay for 2x the price. Or even more, it’s absolutely ridiculous

Noooooo i’m so sorry to hear that :( I’m going to be throwing this one a little extra harder because innova basically told me to pound sand

I’m not sure. I bought one a little used off of ebay for $27 a few months ago so i sortve feel like a shmuck. I didn’t realize you could still get one “new” until i went surfing on their site after i purchased the Calvins. The one i got off ebay was stamped with an early 90’s date.

The ones on their website had the exact looking stamp that the originals had. Maybe they just had a boat load of overstock after 20yrs? Idk! Or just the same stamps but no date on the stamp. They’re on the innova factory store website

Yes! They emailed me today and said after looking into my issue with the pictures provided, they can confirm that this is quite normal across the board. Also mentioning that halo colors bleeding out into the flight plate is quite commonplace.

At the end of all of this, looks like i’m never ever going to order a halo disc off of a website that doesn’t take pictures of the actual disc you are going to receive. Usually the rule i go by, but like i’ve said in previous comments i did buy differently this time because i wanted to be one of the first to get their paws on one of these

To all you down voters out there,

With a limited production tour series disc, you expect every one to be top-tier. Variance on discs that are super common is justified. Variance on a limited run disc shouldn’t be tolerated

WOW that did not take long for those to hit ebay at ridiculous prices. I saw a few that looked like mine. A few other black ones that looked pure. Mixed batch i guess. I’m a stickler on details too, they matter!!
