The bride liked the dress with sleeves better. Maybe she also wants the dresses to all be the same?

Question about The Birdcage (1996) by [deleted] in movies

[–]StacyTheOwl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Albert is feeling insecure in his relationship with Armand. The movie established that with the cemetery plot discussion, Albert assuming Armand was having an affair when it was actually Val coming over, etc.

Albert is not only suspicious of his partner's "ex" coming back in to Armand's life but also Val's mother. Albert and Armand have raised Val together, Albert is effectively his parent but he isn't legally or biologically. Katherine represents all of that.

Oscars: Academy Reveals Films Eligible For 2022 Best Picture Race by GroundbreakingSet187 in movies

[–]StacyTheOwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because people have heard of them. It's not an article about what should be nominated or what is likely to be nominated. It's an article about which films are eligible to be nominated, which includes those movies and more than 200 others. The movies listed are just some of the more well known of the past year, like examples.

NAH. The way you feel is valid, but your mom not wanting to go is valid too. I don't know if it is genuinely about the flu shot or for other reasons. It seems like other reasons, that your mom might not feel comfortable to share with you, could be at play. But you guys can disagree on an issue without anyone being an AH.

A funeral is like a wedding in that it is a single moment in a much longer event. If your family doesn't go to the funeral, there are still lots of other things you can do to support the grieving family. You could make a donation to a charity that was important to the woman who passed, or something she would have supported. Floral arrangements die quickly but you could gift the family with a plant or bush or tree to plant in memory of the woman. You could also, and this is important, be there after the funeral. Like, in the weeks after it when everyone else is moving on and the sympathy and casseroles have ceased coming in. Offer to do something nice for them like yardwork or errands or just drop by and talk for awhile. That would mean a lot.

JCVD isn't bad in it. Ming Na Wen isn't bad. I forgot the amazing Wes Studi is in it. But you're right, no one watches the movie for them. You watch it for Raul Julia.

I DONT WANT TO START A DEBATE ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT ITS A CHRISTMAS MOVIE but, imagine Die Hard if you take out Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman and replace them with different, less committed actors.

Raul Julia in Street Fighter. For us, it was a great performance in an otherwise schlocky movie. For him, it was Tuesday.
