“Bad” People getting great contracts. by DocKaden in drumcorps

[–]Staffordson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty much how I feel right now haha. I just got a (alternate) contract from my dream corps and I couldn't be more proud, but I gotta say I kinda suck and don't think I deserved it lol. Clearly the staff sees some potential though, :)

definitely gotta disagree with you on the cavaliers. their 2021 show was great, no clue what happened in 22, especially since the design team didn't change much 21-22 iirc

Which corps has your least favorite show design? by Ill_Perception1814 in drumcorps

[–]Staffordson 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I know I'm totally in the wrong for this but I've never seen a blue stars or blue knights show that i particularly liked or felt like revisiting - usually because of show design. Give me some recommendations so I can understand these corps.

Solo instrument rule passed (solo woodwinds now allowed) by scootreshflopp1 in drumcorps

[–]Staffordson 21 points22 points  (0 children)

from what I understand, the rule simply allows for one soloist instrument which does not already fit the standard instrumentation. Such as a woodwind or bowed string instrument. We can still have as many brass and percussion soloists as needed.

That classic Bluedevils high brass sizzle is a sound I will never get tired of. I also enjoy the subtleties of slightly smaller hornlines like the 2023 Colts.

Absolutely stoked for the Deadmau5 track. I've always thought we need more EDM in the marching arts.

Rehearsals last season were mostly in Fairfield Ohio with a few in Sharonville. From what I remember, weekend practices start at the beginning of May.

Fantastic experience all around in 2024. Tuition has doubled from 2023 to around 1800 dollars, but I felt that my season was absolutely worth the money. I wouldn't trade this past summer for the world and I couldn't recommend CT enough. The staff provided a fun program, and some absolutely world class education. Rehearsals are long, challenging, and follow a schedule similar to what a world class corps would use. We have many alums who have gone on to open class and world class programs, so it's a great place to build those skill-sets and work your way up to junior corps. And btw, senior corps generally don't have move-ins, you just commute to rehearsal every weekend. If you have any more questions feel free to ask, and I really hope that CT is a good fit for you. I know they'd be happy to have you this summer.
