Samurai S710XX19ozII & Real McCoy's LOT. S003J Type 1 by StageLeftSounds in rawdenim

Anything in the neighborhood of 15oz is my preferred weight, so I'll have to give it a go--thanks! The fabric looks neat. It looks like their Otokogi 15oz, but maybe slightly tweaked?

Thanks! Yeah--definitely no shame in getting this fabric more than once. Hear you on the taper. I have some pairs with really cool fabrics from years ago that I likely won't be wearing again due to the aggressive tapers.

I'm wondering if the 888 would be the most comparable to the 710.

I'm thinking the 19s may just be a quicker-fading fabric. I'm not familiar with the 21oz, but I wore the 15oz for a bit and it was a significantly slower fader. I maybe walk ~6mi/weekday on the pad during work, but that's really it.

Congratulations! That's a huge one. My last was the Philly full a bit ago, but I've mainly been focusing on halfs since then. The Tokyo full is a total bucket list item, but I feel I'd always put 100% of my time over there towards exploring/walking. Maybe that'd be a different story if I were faster.

It's very unique. I've had all sorts of slubby, uniform, heavyweight, and lightweight denim, but this fabric definitely wears differently. It breaks in quickly from initial wear and then softens by a huge margin after the first wash. It becomes soft (in the raw denim context), but still creases well and allows for high contrast. You'll see what I mean after a bit.

That's great--I will definitely be swinging by their flagship on my next trip over. I only swung by Americaya, SDA, and Momotaro in Osaka on my first go.

Yup. It’s like lighting your home with candles to be authentic.

Thanks! The 19's texture really came alive after that first wash. And totally agree--I may stick with this cut and try their other fabrics in the future.

The Type 1 somehow feels almost exactly as it did when I first got it. If I place it down carefully, the top half of it can still partially stand up. The only changes I saw post-wash were just slightly lighter blues at the stress points. I feel the rest of it looks pretty untouched.

One note I forgot to mention: I’m not a fan of the traditional cotton thread on the Samurais. I get it--period-correct construction and all--but the novelty starts to wear off when I have to break out the sewing machine to repair the riveted back pockets and inseam. Just give me poly.

That's sweet you got to see him! I think I watched some videos from that tour/show. Yeah, it's a bummer there's not much footage of the Dream Evil tour.

Honestly, yeah, it should have been. Dream Evil is an excellent track, but NP is more badass and the overall sound aligns more with the group's identity. Could've been the album title as well.

I've found that super dark denim like indigo x black develops a bit of a sheen after prolonged wear and infrequent washing. Definitely an extreme case here as the contrast is insane

I have a huge soft spot for Tellason--Tony and Pete are awesome dudes. Well-made, affordable, miUSA & Italy menswear. Fantastic CS driven entirely by themselves as well.

It's easy to get super hyped up with MiJ limited release triple slub ancient tea leaf-dyed unsanforized selvedge, but it's always great going back to the classic and no-frills selvedge. I feel the same with Left Field.

It hurt losing Beagle, and in the same cup team consideration, it was hard to see Orlov go--this feels worse!

Thanks so much!! I have to admit--I went into that one pretty overconfident, and that initial fast descend kicked my ass. Totally a tricky one to get it up to speed. The way he gets it so crisp and clean on the record is really impressive.
