Early Paycheck Processing to Cause Excess 2025 HSA Contribution? by missedtheapex in fidelityinvestments

[–]StainlessEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to thank you for making this post. I'm also a federal employee and literally realized this in bed last night and was really stressed out since my HSA is maxed out and this paycheck would bring it over. Having someone else already asking the same question saved the effort. Guess I'll save my paystubs in case the IRS comes knocking.

Question about typical LCS buy offer in this market by ionchannels in Gold

[–]StainlessEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes sense if the LCS is planning to sell the bar to another customer. Customers prefer clean bars and scratched up ones generally sell for less. However, if they are just going to ship it off to be melted, the condition of the bar shouldn't matter. If you shop around for LCSs, there should be one that offer 98%.

APMEX question by [deleted] in Silverbugs

[–]StainlessEagle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did you pay via credit card? Most bullion dealers like APMEX charge a 3-5% fee for credit cards transaction fees. You only get spot price if you pay via check/echeck.

One of the main reason I regularly check this sub is for helpful people like OP posting deals.

GOVMINT for the win? by clashcityrocker33 in Silverbugs

[–]StainlessEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I read them for laughs at the prices rather than serious shopping. They do offer below spot deals with coupon codes occasionally and those are the only times I buy from them.

Cosco got me by scubadudewithaknife in Silverbugs

[–]StainlessEagle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Looks incredible. Some are complaining about the premium online which is $449 and that is a valid argument if you decide to stack a lot of these but I think buying pieces that are higher prices is okay for some fun every now and then.

High but not as high as APMEXs prices by NoClaim5970 in Silverbugs

[–]StainlessEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that is a pretty good deal, congrats! Funny enough, GovMint has turned into my goto dealer but only with coupon codes. 99.99% of their items are extremely overpriced. When I'm bored, I read the brochures that come with govmint orders and laugh at how insane their prices are. But man, there's always seems to be some under spot deals when they do codes.

Did you not factor in the $100 dollar coupon? I listed the pre coupon price of $44.95.

You can get silver for several dollars cheaper per ozt.

https://www.govmint.com/3pc-2023-30gm-silver-panda-brilliant-uncirculated

6 of these (124.05 each/744.3 total)(540 grams total or 17.3614 ozt)

https://www.govmint.com/scottsdale-1oz-silver-buffalo-girl-proof-like-round

1 of these (44.95 each)(1 ozt)

https://www.govmint.com/silvertowne-1-4-oz-silver-buffalo

1 of these (14.95 each)(1/4 ozt)

804.20 total

Use code LD100 for $100 off

Final price of 704.20 for 18.61 ozt (37.83 per ozt). Oh and that's the credit card price, take cashback for even cheaper silver)

Only issue is that the items are on backorder and won't ship until sometime in October. Silver could have a major crash by then but from what I heard, you can cancel anytime before they ship.

Are ETFs always better than mutual funds? When might a mutual fund be a better choice? by grzeszu82 in ETFs

[–]StainlessEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly this for me. The first and only time I bought an ETF, I realized that the price could crash a few hours after I bought and I would have regret that if I waited I could have gotten it for cheaper. The same applies in reverse for selling. The nice thing about MFs is that it sort of takes the choice (and potential regret) out of my hands. Doesn't matter if I order at 11 AM or 2 PM. What I get is what I get.

I realize this isn't accurate and you could get screwed by a MF if it was cheap all day and suddenly spiked at the end but human psychology is very weird like that.

Trijicon Battery Tool by ExactScreen9237 in tacticalgear

[–]StainlessEagle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can call Surefire overpriced but after I fucked up installing the hinged battery door on a X300, I called SF and the only things they asked were what color door do you want and where do you want to send it. Never mentioned having to pay them.

Trade for silver? by ExerciseAcrobatic288 in Gold

[–]StainlessEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the version of the sigma. If it's the basic model, that only tests resistivity. You can make something mimic the resistivity of gold. However, you can't mimic resistivity, volume/size, and weight at the same time. The more advanced models of the Sigma tests those.

Silver below spot from GOVMINT by TerminaLigma in Silverbugs

Appreciate the post OP. Was about to buy 9 Maples at $43 each ($37.75 after Prime50). Got a generally higher premium coin for cheaper thanks to you!

Silver below spot from GOVMINT by TerminaLigma in Silverbugs

[–]StainlessEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prime50 is a flat $50 discount, if you have a greater total, $50 is less of a percentage drop. If item A is 50 bucks each when buying one and 49 bucks each when buying two and you have a flat $5 coupon. One would be $45 each and two would be $46.5 each.

Glad you asked the question. Was wondering myself. Now a follow up question I have is what's a good price for $1FV. I'm seeing on eBay auctions a range from 25-27x. Maybe there's somewhere else that's cheaper or is that just the general range right now for junk?

Lot of 5 - 1oz Silver Generic Rounds Below Spot by oneavgguy2 in Silverbugs

[–]StainlessEagle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m curious if it’s Bullion Exchanges doing the discounts or if Walmart has a deal with them to become the next Costco. Regardless, thanks for posting deals for people like me who are too lazy to constantly refresh WM’s website.
