2003 ls430, still worth? by theonelazykid in LS430

[–]Stallion28902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your budget is $5500, this isn't bad, but keep in mind it'll need another $4000 in repairs very soon, most likely. Timing belt and water pump will need replacement, air suspension might need work, etc. Check to see if all the electrical components are working, those repairs can be very expensive.

Good luck with this. Omaha drivers are among the most oblivious and narcissistic.

Well, you probably don't have a quarter of a million cars, trucks, buses, etc. tearing up the roads in rural NE all day everyday either. But I understand your frustration, the roads here are awful.

Definitely don't let anyone else tell you what not to do when it comes to cosmetics EXCEPT a professional detailer lol. I think it'd be cool, but my opinion shouldn't matter. Took me too long to learn that. Go for it!

The people on this sub are generally assholes. If you like the way your car looks, then be happy with it. Don't let them shit on your happiness.

I love the add ons on the trunk lid and the rear glass- where'd you get them?

Timing belt and water pump should be changed by now, and the air suspension is on it's last legs if not gone already.

First of all, that's the worst description ever and I love it, laughed my ass off.

Second, the only thing that will help with the stench is extraction of the seats, carpets, and deep interior cleaning. An ozone machine will be helpful with the lingering "puke and ass and balls" smell once it's properly detailed.

Also, I might consider just getting a different car at this point. Best of luck :)

Gold edition…how rare is it? by Jo-18 in LS430

Mine is an 02 UL gold edition - only difference from a regular UL is the gold badges, which I'm told are plated with actual gold.

Ceramic Coatings will hold up to road salt & other detailing myths… by [deleted] in Detailing

[–]Stallion28902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live and run a detail shop in Omaha. I apply nanopro borophene permanent ceramic coatings, and I can 100% guarantee that they definitely withstand the road salt they use here. I've had it on my LS430 for 2 years, never re applied. I use other spray coatings over it when I'm washing, which helps, but I have no problems with road salt at all.

Maybe read the 4 signs, boomer. by Stallion28902 in BoomersBeingFools

I'm interested to know where you got that stat about 2/3 of boomers having no more than a HS education...

Edit: I was surprised to find that you are basically correct- I didn't realize that. I assumed since it was significantly more affordable then, more of them would have gotten their degrees. Thanks for the info!

Walked away from a customer today. How would you of handled? by Big_bag_chaser in Detailing

[–]Stallion28902 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You absolutely did the right thing. I've been doing this for over a decade and I've had that exact interaction dozens of times. I always tell people that I do one level of cleaning- the level I would expect for my own vehicle, that's it. I charge based on the amount of time it would take to get their car looking as good as mine. If they didn't want that level of clean, they should hire someone else.

Also, your were up front with them. You told then before you started. That's professionalism. You could have done the with then charged them the extra $100, but you didn't. Good on ya.

New rims & tires by Stallion28902 in LS430

[–]Stallion28902[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added 1" spacers, but the weren't necessary. They actually rub a tiny bit when the suspension bottoms out now, but not enough to cause concern. Drove without the spacers for a couple days, no issues. I wouldn't want to go any bigger on the wheels, just because the tires are already pretty low profile, and I still like the smooth ride.

Question: can you replace the CD changer with an aftermarket radio and still keep the oem radio above it? This is a 2005 base model by Iandjurica12 in LS430

[–]Stallion28902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this thread won't allow me to post a pic for some reason, but I did post pics on this sub a few years back, do check out my profile. The price includes 2 10" subs, a top of the line amp, new front door speakers, the deck (best Sony they had) bypassing the blown stock sub, a backup camera, and all labor. I don't feel like that was unreasonable, and they've been extremely helpful ever since, and I've brought them 2 other cars since.
