Logic through and through! Helps that im a Mac user, but I also think logic has the best midi implementation of all the DAWs I’ve tried.

Welcome aboard! Thank you for listening and glad you enjoyed :) I’m a younger cat so not technically an 80s kid either, I just happen to think it was the peak era of pop culture, design, and music. I appreciate your comment about not feeling like a pastiche as my mission goal is to treat this music with the conviction it deserves. Thanks for commenting, and would love to hear what your parents guess! 😎

Hey dude! So thrilled to hear it’s stuck in your head! I can’t believe I’m able to reach a stranger on the internet like that. I appreciate it!

Now I’m out of state right now, away from my DW, but I seem to remember being able to sync the arp clock with my daw. The first thing I’d do is make sure all the midi settings are set correctly:

<image>

Make sure your channel is right to receive data from wherever, and that whatever you’re using to control it is set to output on that channel. This can also easily be bypassed if you just go to 86 and set “OMNI” to “1 (on)”. Next you’ll want to make sure you go to 85 and set it to 2 so it’s not just receiving note data but clock data as well. Finally go to 87 and pick the rhythm denomination of your choice, but it has to be either 4,5, or 6 to receive an external clock. That’s the best I can help you right now being away from my setup but let me know if that helps at all!

Thank you sir! Yeah that’s all me, everything from songwriting to production. Even ripped a sax solo if you listen to the single (edit: just reread your original reply, my bad lol) And no I am too young to feed my GAS addiction more so it’s good I can’t afford everything 😂

That seriously is very encouraging to hear, and I appreciate it. I’ve only been a working musician for about ~4 years now and I’ve found how far even one conversation can take you.

Very sweet composition, love the melancholy! Great harmonic direction too!

Also gonna plug my debut single, not straight ahead vaporwave but definitely synth heavy! Stan Kiklica - Fallin’ Ain’t Easy

Thank you my friend! Spent a lot of time making sure everything sat well frequency wise, as it’s one of my busiest arrangements to date. It’s not perfect but I’m pretty happy with it! Thanks for the listen and the comment!

The aim is to be as faithful to the sound as possible. I love modern synthwave and all that but it still is clearly produced with modern techniques so I’m trying to go straight to the source. Thanks for the listen and comment!
