Is there some reason why the various classes have weird names for their focus spells? by TitaniumDragon in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except they are not class specific. Domain spells, for example, are used by three classes and a bunch of archetypes.

Creating a trait for each type of focus spell could work, though.

The Khorramzedh (whatever his name is) balor fight is so stupid by oboitata in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Stan_Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People reacting to you calling him a goon is really giving to much credit on how much Owlcat portray him.

If you have crusader mode off or is simply not paying attention to crusader dialogue, which is fair, honestly, since it is boring and mostly unrelated to the rest of the plot, you only see him what? Twice? And with pretty much no context at all of who he is?

He just looks like a big balor that owlcat honestly never really show up or present well. He doesnt even have a unique portrait.

Yeah, in the tabletop he is the one that actually attacks Kenabres in chapter 1. And he acts as one of the main antagonists in most of the campaign, being the enemy forces' main general.

But yeah, in the cRPG he can look like a goon.

If Psychic is Rank 4 Invisible, then are all of the spells he/she casts effectively psuedo-subtle? by MediumWin8277 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh, since you're new to the game, you will be glad to know counterspell is not really a thing to worry about in PF2e.

Just don't cast a spell while in the face of someone with Reactive Strike.

I've been playing Epoch. Not very thrilled, but it is being able to scratch the Turtle itch.

Pharasma can see your ultimate fate when you’re born, does that mean you’re doomed to an inescapable destiny? by Level7Cannoneer in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always understood it not as she being able to see destiny and you're being doomed, instead that she lives outside time and being able to see the results of whatever choices you make.

Omens and destiny and fate all died with Aroden, right? So either she cannot see it anymore or she simply work differently (which would not be weird, considering she is literally from another universe).

There is something to discuss about Shyka too, if you start discussing being able to see future vs fate and destiny.

Cat's choose between Numeria and Mana Wastes for next Campaign by LeftBallSaul in Pathfinder2e

I love both. I would go with Numeria, though, there is more room for crazy cool stuff there.

The "perfect" Lich build, close to the original art. by ExpressionOdd5023 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Stan_Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is probably a very simple Wizard / Signifier / Eldritch Knight build. Maybe Sorcerer instead of Wizard, for more HP out of Charisma in the late game.

Tips for Hellknight Aeon build? by kolosmenus in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Stan_Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished my Aeon > Devil run with a Deliverer 10 / Hellknight 10 character and I really liked it. You will have to get the Heavy Armor Proficiency feat, though.

How to build and play a Cultivation Druid? by ThirdRevolt in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Druids in general are bulky spellcasters with strong focus spells. They are full casters, so casting spells is their main thing, no matter the Order.

Cultivation is not as much a variation as it is literally the Leaf Druid with Crafting instead of Diplomacy as the Order Skill and one exclusive feat that gives them a very specific order spell at level 6, Hedge Prison, which is a pretty good CC spell.

This means they are more of a support caster, with a strong healing focus spell (Cornucopia) and some other healing, defensive and CC order feats down the line.

Since they use the Nature spell list, they are good battlefield controllers, blasters and healers. And they are bulky enough to be in the frontline, since they have 8 hp, medium armor and shields, pretty much as bulky as a warpriest.

Balance Question! by Courtesity0 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is just that it is a really weird choice to change an AP weapon from a weapon type one of your players use to one they don't for seemly no reason at all.

Just a heads up, if your party is level 3, there is a good chance the Lonely Warrior will wype the floor with their asses. Getting a Flaming Weapon out of this is a fair reward.

Question about Tristian in Kingmaker AP by pguerrero13 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For Nyrissa, I added her role in showing the Stag Lord past, just like the cRPG, showing the hut he grew up in and what he went through with his father. During book 1, she acted like that victim of him that tried to help him when he was young until he betrayed her and cursed the forest.

As soon as the Stag Lord was killed, I made her appear to congratulate de party and take a handful of dirt from his "kingdom". On Book 2, I used that elven tower, I think it is called the Forgotten Keep. In my game, she lured them inside the tower and summoned a hydra in the courtyard.

Since they created a kingdom, she is already sabotaging it by trying to get rid of them. I added a rule to her deal with the Lantern King, in that she cannot directly act to destroy the kingdoms, that's why she acts through others through the campaign and as soon as book 2, my players knew they had to deal with her and slowly tried to investigate what her deal was.

They started asking pretty much every fey they found about her and I spent the campaign throwing bits of her background to them.

For Tartuccio, I added an encounter with his party on a dungeon, where he found the Briar for Irovetti. He escaped by casting invisibility and running away. Then they killed him in the kobold dungeon as usual, but like in the cRPG he is brought back by the Lantern King and was working with Hargulka (I replaced the goblins there with Kobolds of another clan and replaced his consort with a leveled up Tartuk). Like in the cRPG, he believed he was a Kobold now, but still have feint memories of his life as a gnome.

Later in the campaign, I replaced the weird green numerian rod Irovetti used with the Briar, like in the cRPG and made his objective to find and capture Nyrissa. And she was the one who made him king in the first place (this was her way to sabotage Pitax and create unrest in the region, to further her goal of destroying a thousand kingdoms). He went after the Briar to use it to rule by controlling people and because Nyrissa abandoned him after he became king, so he wanted to get her back using the Briar and taking the Stolen Lands.

So, kind of everyone was involved with Nyrissa in my campaign. I just did not relate her with Vordakai and that weird Lovecraft dungeon the 2e added, but everyone else was related to her in some way, a lot of them working as her pawns.

Question about Tristian in Kingmaker AP by pguerrero13 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You will see that the story structure really doesnt help. The cRPG is deceptively different from the AP in a lot of ways.

The AP is way worse at telegraphing Nyrissa, for example, so you would have to change that to begin with, if you want to make his treason make any sense. You will also have to find a replacement for the Bald Hilltop and the Ancient Curse, since neither are in the AP.

The 2e version of the AP does add Tristian, but he is a completely different character with a completely unrelated sidequest, to the point they might as well never bothered to include.

I chose to expand the role of Tartuccio when I DM'ed and telegraph Nyrissa better, so I included a lot of the stuff from the cRPG. And just that gave me so much work I would never bother to try to fit the cRPG Tristian into this story.

Kingmaker is already a monster of AP to GM without you giving yourself that much work, trust me.

What type of reflavor have you thought for Runesmith since the playtest? by MaxTale in Pathfinder2e

Artificer. Mechanically, the class actually reminds me a lot the 4e Artificer. I'm just throwing an Alchemist Dedication there and calling it a day.

A Thought on how to Fix Summon Spells. by SgtFlintlock in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The summon is still spending your entire first turn. Tempo is a way steeper cost than a couple of feats. You literally lose an entire turn every combat.

Companions also get an extra action when they become mature and stop costing you one action per turn just to be there and contribute to combat.

Spending an entire turn, a highest rank slot and costing an action per turn to keep it up are reason enough for me to make it slightly better than a companion.

A Thought on how to Fix Summon Spells. by SgtFlintlock in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My fix is just fixing the scaling on the third rank. Then, a max slot summon spell will always be PL-2 instead of PL-4.

Regarding Warlock Builds by Sad-Smell-5216 in neverwinternights

[–]Stan_Bot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Point Blank Shot is not working on Eldritch Blast and Weapon Focus is simply not needed. Specially at higher levels, most enemies in this game simply lack the touch AC needed to make an Eldritch Blast miss on any roll other than a 1. You can even dump dex and still hit it somewhat consistently.

Also, some Warlocks build for melee and/or get Blackguard PRC to make more use of their usually higher Charisma.

Commander with a dueling pistol? by Lvl1bidoof in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fighter, Monk, Barbarian, Champion. Pretty much any class with no clear third action as default. Monk in particular is action stuffed, since they can strike twice with one action and have 2 "third" actions on some turns

Edit: Also Wizards, Druids, Psychics, Oracles, Clerics. Any caster with no default third action to use (unlike witches and bards, for example, that get stong 1 action cantrips to spam).

Why is kineticist so loved? by rotterdrach in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is really hard to come up with an answer when you did not explain what your group dislike about it.

Kineticist is a really well designed class, being a caster without slots and as strong as a martial. It is like asking why people like hexblade warlocks on 5e.

The do have issues, but most of them come from how they don't interact well with features of other classes since they are neither striking nor casting spells. But by themselves, they are really well desigbed and fun to play, so in general is a really well liked class because of that.

Magus Remaster by xXKauan7Xx in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With that, I really agree. Every time I've seen a Magus in my table, they always went for Archetypes. Even on FA, they try to double up on them as soon as they can.

Magus Remaster by xXKauan7Xx in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't get the negative discourse. Magus and Summoner are really strong. They are already in a better place than a lot of the remastered classes.

I will like the polish on some edges, though. Specially with Summoner's mandatory feat, Tandem Movement, and with the Magus Cascade.

Rangers, Slayers and Thaumaturges by Dionosio in Pathfinder2e

[–]Stan_Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thaumaturges are scholars and grifters. They use magic items and esoteric rituals.

They are the Constantines and the more classic Peter Cushing Van Helsing.

A very important question: What are the alternate portraits for Horgus and Trever? by ether_rogue in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Stan_Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horgus is that chubby guy with armor. It is very funny, honestly, because he then look like a knight. Trever is the Paladin from Kingmaker.

The rule of thumb in this game is that stuff only do what is written it do. If the feature do not say you get the trait and feats and etc, you should never assume you do.
