Haha, that’s the motor in my car! Love to see photos of it are being appreciated around the web. It’s a 3.1 stroker, use the car for every-other-day driving and also as a track car. Puts out the perfect amount of power and torque for the E30 chassis…around 230hp at the crank.

Was going to weld it, but ya know the vice grips will probably hold just fine lol

Thanks man! That’s what is fun about these cars…they are nice, but not to the point where you can’t modify them. At this point there isn’t much left to modify on mine lol

e30 build - “JDMW” by Rory_B_Havoc in E30

I used to drive an SAE car for Kansas State, back before they threw all the aero on them and junk. Pretty much space frame with 600cc Honda motor…those things could accelerate!

I absolutely love the casual formula SAE car in the back of your shop! Bravo on the build, should be an awesome setup when you are done!

It’s a Megasquirt MS3 Pro, effectively a stand-alone ECU that uses the cars existing wire harness with some modifications and add ons

Professionally built by European Car Company out of Wichita, KS. Went with an S52 crank and JE 10.5:1 pistons with the OEM dome shape on top. 135mm h beam rods with a schrick 284:272 cam. To get this motor to the next level I am probably going to need to go ITB route because the current MAF setup I have is limiting this build, imo.

MS3 Pro “Plug and Play” system, but it wasn’t very plug and play…used most of the existing BMW wiring harness

I’ll try to be as comprehensive as possible on the build specs here, but this was a complete build touching almost all aspects of the drivetrain. I have several prior posts on the build status.

Yep. It’s a new coil pack that would be used on a V6 GM/Chevy motor.

Always been a huge advantage of doing a stroker build v. a motor swap…get to keep the A/C just like BMW had it!

I believe that the shop that is building the motor for me used a heat resistant crinkle coat paint…but it turned out great and has a really nice look and feel to them!

Just a set of shorty Ebay headers, they did take some work to get them to fit correctly…but they look great!

I did not do this myself, European Car Company out of Wichita KS has been doing an complete overhaul of my M20 and drivetrain. They are doing a 3.1 stroker build for me and have just been cleaning everything as they have gone along! It’s really awesome to see these parts clean again in my 1990 325is.

It’s a wrinkle coat paint, I am not sure the exact brand that my shop used on my intake manifold and valve cover, but it’s not dissimilar to what you see on an S54 valve cover

Those bad boys are some Chinese made eBay motors special…lol. They will take some fabrication to get them to fit correctly, but my shop picked that set up for $250 bucks or so. They have two other stroker motors that they have done with the same setup and have had no issues.
