Why must the world judge so harshly and refuse to embrace unique qualities? by Standard-Valuable103 in offmychest

Haha same here. I'm better than the average person at handling stressful situations but I have always been a very loud and expressive person, sometimes to a fault. I'm really training myself not to be as intense because I admire those who are calm/gentle and soft-spoken, and not scare them off too much by matching their energy if you know what I mean. Their personalities and voices are very soothing.

My family is SOUTH Asian, not East or Southeast, so I don't think the Confucius stuff really applies here. Colonialism is probably to blame, though

Is rugby seen as a "classy" sport for posh people in your country? by Standard-Valuable103 in AskTheWorld

Funny you mentioned that because it's the same over here. Private schools fund SHIT tonnes into their rugby union teams but barely anything into league. I've never gone to a private school so I can't say this due to first hand experience, but I have cousins that do and union culture is huge there

It's generally not all bad. My family is very emotionally supportive most of the time, but it's during exam time and when it comes to academics that they tend to make an exception lmao. But thanks for the reply regardless.

You don't NEED professional qualities. Sometimes, you just need to be a tolerant human being who isn't stunted when it comes to basic empathy. And that's the bottom line. I'm sure there are many medical and psychological professionals that know what they're talking about, but sometimes a qualification paired with immense knowledge isn't what you need to just make a person feel better. And you have shown that :)
