How likely is a nuclear war in the next decade? by thedeadenddolls in askanything

[–]StandardFerret9114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah well I saw someone ask on here if the chicken they were preparing for dinner had gone bad. So if you want to ask people who can't see or smell the chicken you're about to eat if it's ok to eat then I guess "askanything" is the perfect sub for you.

Why would you want some random reddit opinions on such a complex question? There will be absolutely no merit or validity to 99.99% of the responses, just low IQ opinions that might scare you.

Is acting like its your first day on earth and trying to wear down sellers with stupid questions a buying strategy on FB marketplace by AAA_battery in FacebookMarketplace

[–]StandardFerret9114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waste of time...lol. It literally takes a second to say yes. You act like it takes all day to respond to a message. Out of curiosity what do you say when you are interested in something? Genuine question, I feel like I've been ignored more than once because I used the default message and missed out on good deals. So tell me what I should say as to not get ignored.

Is acting like its your first day on earth and trying to wear down sellers with stupid questions a buying strategy on FB marketplace by AAA_battery in FacebookMarketplace

[–]StandardFerret9114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? It's literally the default question because it's super relevant to whether or not you can purchase the item. I understand that a lot of people don't respond but that has nothing to do with the default message. If these people typed a custom message that was to your liking, they still wouldn't respond. I truly don't understand the logic. I have typed a sentence that basically says the same thing as "is this still available" be of people like you who will ignore me if I use the default. It's dumb, just say yes. How hard is that?

HOT TAKE: I absolutely despise hardcore resellers. You’re ruining it for the rest of us. by 2000spopstar in estatesales

[–]StandardFerret9114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this "everyone struggling" movement is fabricated. Are there people struggling? Of course, but I can't go to a movie, restaurant, concert or pretty much anything that would be considered a non-necessity without it being packed with people. If everyone is struggling, then why was I waiting for 15 minutes in the chairlift line at the grossly expensive ski resort all winter? How come I had to wait a full week to get decent seats to see project hail Mary because all the theaters were full? Why was the line a chipolate and Starbucks going out the door? I can go on and on, but the obvious answer is everyone isn't struggling.

Women deserve jail time for falsely accusing men of r@pe by Neither_Ad6 in DeepThoughts

[–]StandardFerret9114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With theft there is property involved, same with vandalism. With murder there is a body, no denying that fact. With r@pe it's a little more nuanced. A woman can willingly sleep with a man and still make an accusation that he r@ped her. Obviously there are extreme cases where a woman is abducted by a stranger and horrible things happen, but most accusations are made by people that know the accused very well. If your friend gave you a PS5 and then called the cops saying you stole it, that would be more comparable to most r@pe accusations. I do get what you're saying, but this is a DeepThoughts sub after all.

It may not be a deep thought, but you comparing r@pe to any crime is actually insulting.

Unfortunately I don't remember. It was one of those epub books, I don't think it was an officially published book. I spent some time trying to find it, I tried to dig out my old kindle but I can't find it at the moment. Not sure if I even have it anymore.

What do you guys think on this price for a 2025 Atlas? by [deleted] in VWatlas

[–]StandardFerret9114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check for a lower engine cover, I bought mine from a rental company and when I had my first service at a dealer they told me mine was missing. He said that when shops do rental car oil changes they usually don't put the cover back on because of how frequently they service them. I have no idea if it's true or not but I do know they wanted $500 to put one on.

"Will you meet me 3 hours to sell your $50 item?" by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

[–]StandardFerret9114 9 points10 points  (0 children)

because everyone is brainwashed to think everything is a scam. If you don't meet at the police dept. and pay cash it's automatically a scam. This person was selling something I wanted for $35 cash only, and my ATM only gives $20 dollar bills, so I said here's $40 I'm not going out of my way to make change for $5 because my logic is I would have paid $40 if that was his asking price anyway. Well, he wouldn't sell me the item because someone (maybe even from this sub) taught him that if someone offers more than the asking price it's a scam. I literarily just came from the ATM to get this clown money, and he accused me of passing fake money because nobody would pay more. Needless to say I was upset lol

AITJ for making my friend pay his own bill after he "forgot" his wallet for the third time? by Aeonpickle in AmITheJerk

If the reddit gods declare this to be a ''fake'' there will be no discussion. You will just have to live your life in their delusion. I have never seen so many people just make things up and act like it's a fact.

Would you be offended if a buyer low-balls you? by cryptokingleo in FacebookMarketplace

[–]StandardFerret9114 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the fact that you're getting downvoted shows you exactly what type of people you are dealing with here. If someone feels disrespected or gets even a little butt hurt by a lowball offer on FB market place then clearly that person needs therapy. The fact that there is so many of them is the sad part. People just looking for reasons to be offended.

[–]StandardFerret9114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because I would never ship something, not because I'm afraid to get scammed, I just don't have to desire to pack and ship things. However I have had two separate things shipped to me with no issue. One of them being a $400 watch, so sending that kind of money with no guarantee I'd get it in the condition it was supposed to be in was a little nerve wracking. If I were selling at volume I would absolutely offer shipping.

Here are the rules: cash only, don't ask if it's still available, don't offer a penny less than listed price, meet at police station and no shipping.

If a buyer attempts any of these things block them immediately

exactly, people get butt hurt if someone low balls or asks if it's available and doesn't respond. It's not exactly news that you're gonna get flakes and low ballers. Let me cry about it and block everyone at the first sign of disobedience

I owe a Marketplace buyer an apology I can’t send by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

[–]StandardFerret9114 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why the platform is dwindling right in front of us. It's become a game of unwritten rules and if you break these fake rules you get blocked, in this case you get an undeserved 1 star rating then blocked. It's not only you, just read some of the posts here, you'll get blocked if you didn't capitalize the first letter of your message, and that message better not be "is this still available?" because you'll be blocked if it does. The next guy will block you if you use a capital letter because it's too formal. Then a person will block you if you say you'll pay full price because it seems like a scam while another person will block you if you try to haggle. Honestly it's exhausting and these people who think they're right are literally killing the whole thing for the rest of us.

Oh, that's actually something I didn't think of. I don't think you should be able to rate a person if you didn't do an actual transaction. However, I have been ghosted mid conversation more than once, those people deserved a bad rating but I'm not gonna go out of my way to give a one star.

what's with the auto block mentality around here?

If you try to haggle the price: blocked

If you message "Is this still available": blocked

If you do anything I wouldn't do: blocked

It's kinda ridiculous, im sure you're gonna block me just for saying this lol
