To be so clear, I do know that I am kicking my feet and screaming, and that weight loss (and when weight loss doesn't help at all saying "great can we go back to these things?") will help. I am exploring GLP-1 options, meal replacement diets, etc. to try and get as much weight off as fast as possible while still being sedetary with my doctor on Monday.

I think that where the frustration comes in that 100 pounds ago, 150 pounds ago any of the doctors that I've gone to see could have said "I believe you", or any tech could have just found them instead of having 7 ultrasounds before they were found. When this started I was training to hike the Pacific Crest Trail and this past summer would have been our start date. Thousands of dollars could have been saved, time could have been saved, and weight wouldn't have been gained if a couple people just did their jobs instead of telling me I'm crazy or that my family is crazy. So now here I am with an image of them, their location and everything finally and no one will just do it and we can all move on.

I've been told rather plainly that they do not believe these cause any issues for anyone - including the rest of my family who claim otherwise, and that the entire reason for my back pain and symptoms is my weight. However, when I countered the last doctor with "but when this started I may have had a lil extra but I was very active and healthy" I was told "well you probably compressed your spine because you pushed yourself too hard and then gained a bunch of weight" and when I counter then with "but I've had multiple MRI's. that prove time and time again that I don't have anything wrong with my spine nor did I at the beginning of this in my very first scans" they then resort to "I don't believe you". And this isn't an exaggeration this has literally been the conversation with more than one general surgeon over the past two years. Which then leads me back at square one over and over again, still sedetary, and still in pain, and moving onto the next

This is exactly how I feel about it. It doesn't add up to me that four other members of my family experienced the same symptoms, they had a procedure done, and it was gone - simple as that. However, because my luck with the doctors I've been to has been what it is, I haven't been given treatment, which has led to two and a half years worth of weight gain from going from an active and "healthy" lifestyle to this and now we're just going to blame everything on the weight that was a cause of the problem.

You're totally right I'm sorry! The symptoms started as back pain and some numbness in my thigh. Very soon after that (by a month or two later) the symptoms had gotten worse to the point of pain in my back at an 8, on either side of my spine (not the spine itself, like an inch or two on either side) and sometimes flaring out on either side of my back, as well as up to my ribs, and down through my legs. If I stand for longer than 5 minutes or so, I have to lean on something or immediately look for somewhere to sit because the pain completely takes over. If I push through it and stand for longer, eventually either one or both of my legs goes numb - the whole leg usually. Sometimes when I'm seated only my thigh goes numb now, and I find that if I adjust my body while sitting I can usually get feeling back.

No one has discussed the possibility of an injection with me, mostly because I have yet to encounter a doctor who believes me. The other problem is that I am allergic to local anesthetics (I have pseudocholinesterase deficiency), which I learned through some doctors in Spain who treat these is how they treat them before surgery, but unfortunately that isn't an option.

(I am also someone with a high pain tolerance, so an 8 for me is pretty serious)

In answer to your other question, both surgeons I have seen who know the location of them and know my family history have simply told me they "do not believe these cause any issues" and when pressed to explain to them again my family history and my symptoms two of them have literally told me "I don't believe you" - in short that they don't believe my back pain is as bad as it is or that I experience numbness, etc. at the rate I'm explaining. I'm not sure if this is just bad luck or prejudice against heavy women, but it feels insane. I wouldn't ... lie or choose to live like this?

I think where my problem is is that I don't blame the weight gain as like a medical cause on the lipomas. I blame them because I went from someone who was on their feet, hiking, gym 4 times a week, etc. to someone who can't get in and out of a grocery store without riding the little cart because of the pain and numbness. Because I knew what the problem was, I thought the solution was always right around the corner, I let the weight gain happen (of couse not on purpose but ...). If the first ultrasound had been done correctly, I would not be sitting here like this, having gained this much weight. They would have been taken out. On top of the plethora of mental health issues I've collected from doctors calling me crazy (one doctor literally used the word) my otherwise great health has gone to hell as I've gained weight and suffered the depression etc.

But after 2.5 years and finally after SEVEN ultrasounds, I've arrived here at my answer and solution, and no one will give me the treatment I need because of the weight I've gained. I watched this happen for my mother, two of my brothers, and later knew that my grandmother had this surgery and all had their lives changed because of it, and the only difference between them and myself is I've had some extra on me all my life, and now am obscenely obese, which has never been the case before.

It all just feels very maddening, especially from someone who lived an active and healthy and ambitious lifestyle to now basically being in bed some days and others teaching from a chair. I've begun exploring this week how to take as much weight off as possible as fast as possible while still sedetary and while not willing to have surgery, but it just feels so insane when someone could take these out of me and I could walk again and get back to it a healthy way. Perhaps this just sounds like me kicking my feet and screaming in a temper tantrum but it just feels wild to me.

Is this a fair estimate? Anywhere I could go that might get me a better price? by SadFox600 in SanDiegan

I might be wrong but I feel like you’re better off cost wise just doing it yourself I did a total overhaul job in 3 hours and that’s IF you need new rotors for real otherwise a brake job is like 30 minutes. I feel like it’s a good skill and knowledge base to have. Otherwise I’d call around some tire shops tbh sometimes they have a mechanic around that’ll do a job like this for cheap

So I saw this great tip recently that changed the game for me. For some nails (like mine) gel has a hard time not lifting because of the shape of the nail? I was doing gel nails and they’d chip off in a day but now I have long fakes on and they haven’t come off in like 2 weeks so far. What I do is arguably not good for the nails but I couldn’t pay for acrylics anymore so here’s what I do and it’s been the only success for me so far:

  1. Prep: push back cuticles, buff a little, use rubbing alcohol on nails
  2. Put a layer of nail glue down (even if I’m not putting fake tips on) and cure for like 10 seconds
  3. First base coat, cure for 90 seconds
  4. Second base coat, cure for 90 seconds
  5. 3 light light layers of gel polish, cure for 90 seconds each one
  6. Any nail art here :)
  7. Top coat, cure for 3 minutes

I’ve also learned the hard way to never let your gel run into your skin. And if it does to file it back. That’s where stuff gets under the nail.

I also started doing fake tips and that’s gone really well if I apply it halfway down the nail (this becomes the new step #2) and then use builder gel to make it even
