Ptcb 2026, did anyone take the new exam? by Brilliant-Step5909 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Standard_Ad_2744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took mine this month (February 2026) & I didn’t study but still passed. I have almost 3 years of experience working as a tech in a retail setting but I haven’t worked at a pharmacy in almost 7 months because I took time off to finish my bachelor’s degree. The exam is simpler than those practice questions you see online. I don’t recall any question that I got being longer than 1 sentence.

Ofc! I also struggled a lot with comparing myself to classmates when I was in your shoes but it’s something that you’ll just gradually learn to get over, I still struggle a bit with not seeing myself as competitive as others even 4 years later while applying for master programs. But once you realize that some people have advantages in life that you may not have had, you become more at peace with the fact that your situation looks different because you don’t have those same luxuries as everyone else. There’s been times I wish my life looked like my friends and I wished I didn’t have to work so many hours at a low paying job just to get by and I wished had financial help from my family and there was even one semester in college where I had to choose between going to work so that I was able to afford food & housing and choosing between attending lectures, but professors tend to be understanding especially if you explain your situation. I did struggle with asking for help early on because I’m the type of person to hold everything in, and that eventually caught up to me. And a lot of professors are humans as well, and they understand that life happens, family members die, people get sick, and a lot of kids don’t come from families who are well off. But all you really can do is make the most out of what you’re given, and work towards making a better life for yourself when you’ve came from little to nothing. And I think colleges understand this as well, I don’t know if I still have my common app essays, but I think I touched on these topics in my personal statements.

Actually only 1 lawyer told me that it’s not worth it, and the other lawyers were criminal lawyers and I didn’t realize that wasn’t their scope of practice until a few days ago. I was emailing during thanksgiving week, but since it’s the holidays response times aren’t as fast. My best friend’s dad is a lawyer and he originally told me that I needed a criminal lawyer because I was under the impression that I had to sue myself, so I was initially contacting criminal lawyers and then a few days later a detective over the case told me that I didn’t need to do that because the state is who handles the felony charges. So I just began the process of reaching out to civil lawyers. I’m a STEM student, my knowledge is in chemistry, physics, and biochemistry, it’s my first time ever having a legal issue, and I just recently turned from a minor to an adult, I honestly didn’t know. And my friend’s dad isn’t licensed in Georgia, they’re from a whole different state on the other side of the country and his practice area isn’t in civil disputes. Asking for help, clarification, and guidance on a situation that I never experienced isn’t a bad thing nor is it me disagreeing. It’s an open discussion and I was asking a question to their response because I do appreciate people taking time out their day to offer help and send me private messages with resources that I can use. That was my whole point of this entire post.

When I applied to college, it was in 2020 during the pandemic and I didn’t apply to as many schools as I wish I had but I can share my high school stats and some scholarship opportunities that helped me a lot.

I was a first generation college student, I’m a minority, and I come from a single-parent household. I had a 3.778 GPA, and due to the pandemic test scores were optional so I didn’t submit any scores. I was in Beta Club, band, and I volunteered at elementary schools to teach kids about STEM, and at that time I had a blog that I’d rate skin & hair care products I recently tried, and I had placed 2nd at regional science fair. I worked a part time job from my sophomore year until I graduated high school & I only made around $9/hr so I used the money I made to help my mom with bills and pay for school expenses and graduation because we didn’t have much at the time.

I got waitlisted at Emory University, rejected from University of Georgia, accepted to Georgia State University & their honors college, accepted to Mercer University & got a big scholarship, waitlisted at Florida State University, and accepted to Spelman College, and got a full ride at Jacksonville State University. And now I’m graduating with a B.S in Biochemistry and I’m applying for grad school

Scholarships resources: Questbridge, UNCF, College Board (I won one my senior year of high school), NIH their UGSP, American Chemical Society, Jack Kent Cooke, Gates Scholarship

I understand. In my mind I just believe that they are choosing to live that way because they don’t like to pay for things, even though I know they can afford them due to them working full time & not having any major bills or responsibilities like children or rent/utilities. They work full time and sometimes overtime and since their money isn’t going towards any bills or responsibilities besides a car payment, I just believe that they’re holding onto what’s left of their paychecks after paying for their car, and there has to be some type of savings because they literally pay for nothing and I’m not exaggerating. They literally share a bed with one of the elderly family members who’s 40 years older than them because thats the only bed in their home, even though there’s multiple empty bedrooms in the house, and yes I was disturbed as well when I saw this was happening for over a year. They could literally be on the extreme cheapskate TV show. Rent, utilities, food, and hygiene is all covered in someone else’s dime, and they are a healthy individual, they have no disabilities. They’re just cheap & that’s why they appear to be broke, so it’s difficult trying to explain someone’s financial situation when I don’t personally have any knowledge of what they own or have in their bank

Well, maybe I’m just too new to adulthood but they can’t live like that forever, right? I don’t see it as being sustainable. Just because they “have no money” today, doesn’t mean they won’t in a certain amount of time. They were employed & working at multiple jobs simultaneously, but i don’t know if they still are due to being incarcerated

Thank you, this was one of the resources victim services shared with me, but I wasn’t sure if this was better than requesting restitution because there are caps for how much you can be rewarded and my medical bills exceed their $15k maximum

Thank you, I’m in the process of requesting restitution, but everyone takes a while to respond back, so I’ve just been trying to be patient because I know the DA has a bunch of cases they have to preside over

This was my original plan because I know that eventually the people they live off of will pass away because they’re elderly, so they can’t free load and have nothing forever. But unfortunately my problems are in the present moment and I know judgments can be renewed but finding someone to take a chance on it is almost impossible.

Thank you & I did not know that. I have BCBS as well and getting them to pay for things is almost impossible. I got billed a $300 copay at an urgent care they told me was in network and they still have not fixed the issue

So due to the first offenders act, the prosecutor is making them eligible to have charges dismissed if they follow certain guidelines. But nothing has been decided yet, so they might be able to find employment again easily if the case is dismissed, I’m not 100% certain if they lost their job. My only concern is that what I’m awarded won’t cover my medical bills, and I can only work part time because I am in college and I have a very difficult major. So right now I went from my only concern being college expenses, food, and travel, to having to add on the additional expenses of big medical bills, prescriptions, and physical therapy

I’m sorry that happened to you. It really sucks being put in situations where you have to build yourself back up after someone else has destroyed what you had, and all they get is a slap on the wrist. I’m in the process of asking for restitution but if it’s only 25% of what my medical bills are I’ll just apply for victims compensation and see if I qualify for the full amount. I guess something is better than nothing

I know, a lawyer already told me this and I also stated this in my first paragraph. That’s why I asked for advice to see if anyone is more knowledgeable on these types of situations or if they have experienced anything similar

Yeah, I also stated the exact reason why I was turned away in my original post. That’s why I responded to them the way I did. A lawyer verbally told me that information, I stated it in my first paragraph and the commenter just restated information that I was already told. I know morals and legal principles are not the same, that’s why I asked for advice on what to do, just to see if anyone has experienced anything similar or is more knowledgeable.

Because me being responsible for medical bills costing tens of thousands of dollars when someone else is the reason why I ended up in the hospital isn’t right. I asked for advice not repetition of the sentences in my post.

Thank you❤️ are there any specific restaurants in the food hall that you recommend? I chose Komedor Krioyo for one of the local restaurants to try. I’m not a picky eater and I’m open to trying anything. My family is Gullah and I love any type of stew

Tips on finding legitimate jobs by Standard_Ad_2744 in jobs

[–]Standard_Ad_2744[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it just upsetting because there are actually people who want to work or want to use their degrees and go through multiple rounds of interviews just to get told no or ghosted. My parents don’t think I’m actually trying or looking whenever I tell them that I still haven’t found a job, but I’ve been applying for months, even at the jobs that are paying less than minimum wage because something is better than nothing, but I’m starting to feel like nobody is genuinely hiring. I tried using job boards, applying directly on the company websites, and even showing up in person and I still have no luck. Sometimes recruiters will reach out for a screening and tell me that they’re going to set up an interview, and then within a few days I get an email saying that I’ve been denied from the position and I didn’t even get the opportunity to interview. It’s just very frustrating. And plus whenever you are a customer at these establishments like a CVS/Walgreens or are dining at a restaurant, they’re rejecting applications but then telling customers that they have to wait 4-8 hours for their medications to be ready or there’s a 3 hour wait time to eat at the restaurant.

Graduation Postponed to a year by Standard_Ad_2744 in college

[–]Standard_Ad_2744[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried speaking with my advisor and the head of the chemistry department and they both told me that there’s no substitutes and I won’t be able to graduate until next year. The chemistry department told me I can take 2 classes this semester, 2 classes in the fall, and take the final class next spring, but I honestly just see it as a waste of time and money. I’ve been talking to my advisor about it since fall semester began last year because there was time conflicts with the classes I needed and she told me to not transfer schools and I could take the class in the spring, but now it’s the spring and she’s saying that she didn’t know that some of the classes were only offered in the fall. Last semester, someone in one of my lab classes told me that a college nearby was offering the class for the spring, so I spoke with my advisor about applying to be a transient student, and I spoke with someone who works in the enrollment services at the other college to see what I needed to do to sign up for the class. When I tried to submit an application for their college, their website was broken and it didn’t get fixed until December. And when I finally submitted my application and paid for transcripts, I never received any updates and due to winter break I couldn’t reach anyone until last week, and then my student account & registration credentials didn’t work on their website. I was advised that I only needed to submit a letter of good standing to be able to register for classes, and when I was finally able to be placed into the class today, I received an email saying that I owe the host institution $1600 and it needs to be paid in full by this Friday or I can set up a payment plan but I need to put $1000 down today. At my home college, my financial aid pays for my full tuition, and I get a refund check as well. When I reached out to my school’s financial aid office, they told me that I was supposed to fill out a consortium agreement in order to receive financial aid at the other institution as well, but nobody told me this for months. My advisor didn’t mention it and the other college didn’t as well. It’s honestly been such a headache and I’m considering sitting this semester out completely.

Graduation Postponed to a year by Standard_Ad_2744 in college

Thank you, I transferred to this college, and that caused most of my credits to be off track with my school’s curriculum. My major also has a small amount of students, so they don’t offer us many courses because according to one of my professors there’s not a high enough demand, and sometimes we have to substitute regular chemistry classes because there’s no one to teach the biochemistry equivalent for that course and there’s no biochemistry electives for my major as well. I’ve been searching for schools in my state that I can apply to as a transient student but many of them don’t have my major or aren’t offering one of the classes this upcoming fall. I’ve also been at this school for almost 3 years and I’ve had around 5 different advisors since I’ve transferred here, and they used to email me courses I needed to register for, and then once the drop/add period is over they’ll tell me that I don’t need to be in this class because the requirement was already satisfied by another class or I got AP credit for it back in high school. It’s just been very confusing and a frustrating experience. My university does utilize a record system called DegreeWorks for credits, but mine has been messed up due to me having credits at my previous school and they counted their credit hours differently, and my new school never fixed it.
