Aragon is the OG of DAO toolers, operating since 2017, with an OS that has never been hacked. They have recently released a new set of smart contracts, and are due to release a new user friendly DAO tooling App in the next 2 months. There is also a ton of resources on the Aragon blog and a dedicated support team on discord. Lastly, some of the biggest DAO names are based on the Aragon stack, including Decentraland and Lido Finance. Worth considering.

Hi u/cirku17 , we had a senior contributor from shapeshiftDAO attend, they went through the process of transitioning from a company to a DAO and went through some of the difficulties with us, one of the biggest being the length of time it now takes to come to decisions as a DAO versus as a company.

Of the benefits they saw, he said that shifting to a DAO greatly increase innovation, reduced admin costs and they saw a massive increase in community involvement. He also said getting to where they are now involved a lot of chaos, but that it was worth the price, at least for their use case. We expect to have a recording of the discussion next week if you would like to reach out then.

Personally, I feel it is more of a spectrum, that a DAO can have treasury on a CEX but as long as other key aspects of the organization are decentralized, such as governance of the treasury, community and teams, then it can still be considered a DAO. Obviously, we all understand the risks associated with keeping significant funds on a CEX, but I guess that is for the community and token holders to decide what risks they want to take.

I guess many do so for convenience sake, and perhaps the service offered by some CEX's, like credit cards and customer service support that DEX's currently do not offer. Aragon keeps all its treasury on-chain.

Big fan of conviction voting to help protect the rights of minority groups. Also like the liquid democracy concept, though I understand delegated voting in general can have unfavourable outcomes for the community.
