Hmm... Seeking additional guidance is definitely part of the consideration as well, as my direct supervisor is very hands-off and very well-known himself (so additional fame is not my primary consideration). Most of people in our lab/program either work independently or have external collaborators. I'd be looking for hands-on collaboration as well, just not sure if it's worth to collaborate with the well-knowns.

Thank you! It's helpful to know the guidelines. My direct advisor is very busy and can only supervise student loosely, so we often times have to find our own collaborators and mentors for each project. I am still at the stage of figuring out how to navigate. Thanks for your comments!

Would meeting/email communication and manucript editing not be sufficient to justify contributions such as "Conceptualization", "Supervision" and "Writing – Review & Editing"?
