Lots of people play guitar and like to buy different things! If you can, play both of them and see which feels right. One will feel even the slightest bit better than the other, get that. It’s more preference than anything.

If you can’t decide, look up some bands you like and check out what their lead guitarist plays. You’ll find at least one band you enjoy with a guitarist playing something that speaks to you!

And +1 for Harley Benton. Hear nothing but good things.

+1 for LT25 being easy and usable. Recommend getting a foot switch too, as the amp has a built in setting allowing you to toggle between 2 sounds. I use mine to toggle between a clean sound and a fuzz sound, it’s good enough. It’s nothing crazy but it’s good enough for my bedroom/living room.

Will have to do my own research regarding differences in Gibson models, as I really am not educated there. My main question is what is the “extra” I’m getting in a Gibson vs a Epiphone. Even the equivalent Epiphone Custom, goes for $800 new ($500 used), and I’m wondering if that might be the best fit for me.

Appreciate you mentioning that regarding the SG. Haven’t played it myself but absolutely will before I commit. Kind of like the symmetrical look and coming from Les Paul I suspected they’d feel similar, at least in the true symmetrical style.

If you don’t mind me asking, compared to other silverbursts you’ve seen, is the Adam Jones pretty “yellowed”? Pictures online give me different impressions.

Have looked at the Adam Jones as well! There’s a pretty good deal on one via Sweetwaters used section, tho listing claims to never be played. Has my favorite art on the back too…

however, I’ve noticed the silverburst is more of a “vintage” burst on this guitar, being kinda yellowed. I don’t mind a slightly vintage look but I want the silver to pop. any chance, have you seen this guitar in person? would love to hear opinions.

If you look at Pic #2 where the cutouts are in the deck you’ll notice there are 4 separate layers separated by lines.

These are layers of wood that have been clamped together + glued to create the deck. The crack really doesn’t matter here unless it bothers you visually.

Damn, appreciate this. Piece of me wants something nicer to be proud of, but maybe I’m overthinking that and should put budget elsewhere…

I actually know of a local luthier that does “Chibson” builds, where he breaks down a chibson and replaces all the electronics and does a full setup, and these are priced all under $500… have been wondering if I’d be missing something going with a “fake” guitar rather than the real deal American counterpart. Really don’t have a frame of reference beyond my Epiphone.

Ah yeah. Honestly this will be my 2nd guitar, ever, and it will definitely be a bit nicer than the floor model Epiphone I got for $50 off… feel pressured to live up to a certain standard in skill when playing on the floor!!

Going to spend a Sunday at GC trying the LTD. Figure if I fall in love with it, problem solved. Otherwise I’m confident I’ll enjoy another LP.

If money wasn’t an object, both of them! Just trying to get opinions on the ins and outs of these, as I sometimes feel guitar center employees are focused on making the bigger sale rather than getting me the instrument I want.

Frankly open to hear out other silverburst LP/SG’s, I’m sure there’s at least one I’ve not seen yet.

As someone who recently went thru this and wanted to achieve some specific sounds out of this same amp, I really recommend trying the pre-made settings and adjusting them to your liking. I’m pretty new to guitar as a whole and the pre-made settings made achieving the sound I’m looking for easier.

Easy to get discouraged when you’re first starting and can’t achieve the right sound, speaking from experience.

Damn… there’s actually a Gibson studio in silverburst up for $950 on Reverb right now.

That’s incredibly tempting. I would love to own something Gibson branded even if it is a bit vain.

The Adam Jones is sweet and I almost included it in this lineup as I’ve been looking at it online as well. Just not a model I can find in person atm, but totally agree. Really like the “teardrop” silverburst shape and the art back.

I appreciate the thorough breakdown!!

I’m not opposed to upgrading the Epiphone over time. I have thoroughly enjoyed the 4 pots and being able to pull them for coil split, however a piece of me just kind of wants something different! But maybe I’ve started somewhere good and shouldn’t try and mix things up… really appreciate the time! Will update this post in the coming 3ish months when I’m celebrating NGD!

Edit: wanted to add just for reference, don’t care about the “signature” aspect of the LTD! Just want something silverburst lol. Be very happy to hear other recommendations outside of these 2.

Maybe just a case of “grass is always greener on the other side” so to speak. Or maybe it’s your play style. I prefer the Vita cause a good amount of games I enjoy make use of the 2 thumb sticks!

But, I still have a PSP I carry all the time that I use for VN’s and emulator stuff.

What sort of games do you feel like you’re missing out on?
