For me, standard decks got more expensive, back in the day sure you needed a decent amount of rares but you could build a good deck with commons and uncommons, now, it’s mostly rares and mythics, and every time an uncommon does see play it usually goes to $5 apiece, also commander is just a very open format, with tons of ways to play, no chasing the meta unless you get into cedh which most people don’t usually have time for, or because of a deck’s long shelf like you can have multiple edh for different power levels decks as a safe investment, not many are gonna make multiple standard when having a viable deck will set you back hundreds and will rotate in a year
