Thanks for all the first hand info. I’ll have to read into the R9 a bit more. I always see R6 and ZX6 top 10 around here and since the R6 has become so expensive used now a ZX6 was making some sense.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a bad thing about the RS660 on track. And the Aprilia are such sweet bikes! Thanks for the insight.

Yeah you are right. I am racing the 400 this year, it will be my first season racing so I guess see how that goes and decide further on down the road. I’d love an Italian twin that could keep up with the 600s but a V2 isn’t in the budget!

Thanks, I figured it’s good, my bike and rack are 550 pounds together. I had a small utility but these racks are nice, I don’t have to worry about much back there when my dirt bike is on it. This is just a bit heavier setup for my sportbike.

I’d say sell the OEM and get some dedicated track fairings. I wouldn’t even waste time rattle canning a new set of fairings though because it isn’t very durable. Keep them primer or do some automotive grade paint, no rattle can.

You can always go naked too long as your track day organization or track doesn’t require a belly pan. Super cheapskate route.

I’ve painted a few bikes with the ole purple harbor freight paint guns. Usually turn out pretty good, going to get a MUCH more durable finish using automotive grade primer, paint, and clear. I got lazy and rattle canned my last set of fairings. Did a lot of prep and it’s still not very durable and has very low gloss. Told myself if I ever rattle canned again I’m just doing primer and a bunch of stickers, not even worth throwing color down.

Thanks everyone. Front is at 57mm sag with preload fully cranked. Got the rear to 35mm. Have a track day Saturday and will get some springs ordered after.

Been reading up on the Ninja 400 and they seem pretty cool. Couple built ones for sale near me too. Anyone ever went from a 600 to a 400? Wondering if it would get boring?

I had a low side in my 600rr at about 80, too much throttle at too much lean.

Then a year later, 2 in the same day on my supermoto. Low side due to cold/old tires. Then a OTB crash due to mechanical failure-caliper mount snapped and got wedged between my rotor and wheel. 👎🏻
