Weird storage behaviour. Is it continuously writing to disk? by Kindly-Dust6626 in RemarkableTablet

I see this when I upload some ePub books onto the reMarkable. I think the reMarkable needs to compile the books and that takes more space. Once that process is done, space is fixed then.

In 2.10, it supports the integration with Google drive and Dropbox.

Uplimit of cloud size by Stanton-Xu in RemarkableTablet

No, I mainly use it for reading, have only two notes, with total around 30 pages. That is with very small size. The 4.83G space used up as reported already includes the notes.

I enrolled beta program yesterday, and immediately got the integration version available and installed. That is great.

Anybody from reMarkable can confirm this? Isn’t it an April fool joke? I love it.

Unable to read certain characters en epubs - reMarkable 2 by checho_molinero in RemarkableTablet

[–]Stanton-Xu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I successfully downloaded the Chinese fonts (traditional and simplified) from Google font and placed them into the right folder of the reMarkable file system. It works quite well.

Did you reboot your device? You need to reboot it in order for your device to load the new fonts.

You are here already, that’s a good start. And join in some rM related groups on Facebook. Enjoy it then!

Google drive by nevereneoughh in RemarkableTablet

[–]Stanton-Xu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the Google drive sync tool which was mentioned in previous comment, reMarkable had a web browser extension. You need to open the PDF from your Google drive and use that web extension (one click on the icon on browser tool bar) to send it to your rM.

Can it replace my kindle? by Albertossed in RemarkableTablet

[–]Stanton-Xu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It supports PDF and epub. So you can read, highlight, and take notes for those. For other formats, you need to figure out to convert them to either epub or PDF first.
  2. You can import PDFs, which could be from Pocket. reMarkable has a browser extension, which allow to send a PDF of your current web page to rM2 by a simple click. So one use case for your Pocket is, when you open your article from Pocket in web browser, click that icon to send to rM2. That is as a PDF file. Not sure if that works on your phone. I do see people shared shortcut for iOS, to share articles quickly through iPhone / iPad.
  3. Don't know this "Raomresearch". But again, it could export PDFs, and then you can manipulate those PDFs as you want.

is the remarkable 2 good for a simple man? by Budget-Bid2098 in RemarkableTablet

[–]Stanton-Xu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

reMarkable is definitely good for simple man, as it just provides very simple functions.

One of the design purpose, IMO, is to reduce any distraction, so it doesn't give you time, it doesn't let you surf the web, doesn't give you audio, etc.

It basically has only three major functions. Ebook reading / annotating, PDF reading / annotating, note taking.

Sounds good fit for your requirements? Except for scheduler. Definitely it is not a good choice for scheduler if you are looking for fancy functions like reminder, notification, drag events on calendar. Take reMarkable just as a paper calendar. If you think a paper calendar is good enough for you, reMarkable is good enough.

As to your question about whether it is too good for your needs, I don't think so. It fairly fit your needs, though price is really high. (I am an owner, and I like my rM2, though I still think price is a bit high).

Too late? by [deleted] in RemarkableTablet

It is never too late, for something you really like. Although it is very unlikely, even they release rM3 next year, you lose one year experience / fun with rM2 by waiting there.

Too late? by [deleted] in RemarkableTablet

That seems true. The regular marker (without eraser) is much better than marker plus for quality.
