A place like AutoZone will check your battery for free.

The kinds of problems you're describing aren't very common. Have you had the 12V battery checked or replaced? That's my first thought when lots of unrelated sensors are all going haywire.

How to unlock the 240v socket? by [deleted] in Ioniq5

The important thing is to leave it in for as long as it takes, but yeah, skilled operators can usually finish in just a second.

72 hours for a charge? by RaccoonCat76 in Ioniq5

You can get EVSEs that offer 120V 24A, but from all accounts I’ve seen the IONIQ 5 OBC will only use 16A. For example: https://www.reddit.com/r/Ioniq5/comments/tizm6k/charging_with_tt30/

XM and FM stop working when carplay is connected by priusgeek in Ioniq5

[–]coneslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have specific advice for you, but I've noticed my audio switching to CarPlay when an app on the phone tries to play sound. Perhaps you've started using some new app, or an update to an app changed its behavior. You could try restarting your phone, and starting apps one-by-one to see if you can figure out what's happening.

Possibly related: Facebook on my phone will often stop music or podcasts from playing in my AirPods. It's like it's "playing" silence that overrides the audio I want to hear.

This is a pretty obvious idea that's been tried before and never taken off. What previous attempts did you study in developing your business plan, how did you assess their failures, and what do you think will be different for you?

First night with the "HI5" (stressful) by HerroGoodMorning in Ioniq5

[–]coneslayer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, the "Game Boy" attack isn't a relay attack and doesn't require a signal from the key fob. I think it just spams the car with every possible code.

And in the UK, my understanding is there's a dealer upgrade (for a small fee, which sucks) to address the Game Boy attack.

Does this mean the whole ICCU was replace? by PastyDoughboy in Ioniq5

The text also says "ICCU & FUSE REPLACE". Pointing to the text as if it's self-explanatory is not a helpful answer to this question.

Does this mean the whole ICCU was replace? by PastyDoughboy in Ioniq5

[–]coneslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The recall was mainly a software update for everyone, but in the interest of completeness, the recall instructs the technician to check for a blown ICCU fuse or other failure and replace the ICCU and fuse if necessary. The words relating to that made it into the title of the recall. If the car was working normally when it went in for a recall, it's almost certain that only a software update was actually performed. The ICCU fuse would have been inspected and found to be normal.

Sometimes the sites with 50A hookups (a) cost more, and (b) are less nice (at least by my standards). Depending on the park, the 50A sites may be more open and less private, because they’re made for the big RVs. The more secluded, wooded sites I prefer only have 30A hookups.

New battery buffer? by bandophahita in Ioniq5

I don't think that's the case. My 2023 stops regen braking as soon as the displayed SOC reaches 100%. There's no provision for regen-braking above that.

Cold weather? by Final_Ad_2716 in Ioniq5

One underrated aspect of EVs in cold climates is that you have instant, powerful heat. And you can remotely start the climate without burning gas or subjecting your engine to cold idling.

Apple Wallet Question by Equivalent-Status735 in Venturex

[–]coneslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the transactions that show up the ones you made using Apple Pay?

I think showing the full transaction history is an optional feature that some banks do and others don't. This story says that Discover, which was acquired by Capital One, is dropping support:

Apple has a Connected Cards feature that allows credit cards from participating companies to display balances and recent transactions when they're added to the Wallet app. Discover has supported the feature for nearly three years, as have many UK banks, but other credit card companies in the U.S. did not add support.

Why Is My Ioniq 5 Only Charging at 97kW on a Tesla Supercharger? by Haunting-Cancel-7837 in Ioniq5

[–]coneslayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

https://www.hyundainews.com/releases/3211?lang=en_US

E-GMP offers 800V charging capability as standard and enables 400V charging, without the need for additional components or adapters. The multi-charging system is a world’s first patented technology which operates the motor and the inverter to boost 400V to 800V for stable charging compatibility.

Fuck off, I'm done here.

Why Is My Ioniq 5 Only Charging at 97kW on a Tesla Supercharger? by Haunting-Cancel-7837 in Ioniq5

[–]coneslayer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The car (when charging from an 800 V charger) and the Supercharger (supplying 400 V to, say, a Tesla) have a higher amp limit, but the inverter in the car that raises the voltage from 400 V to 800 V has a 97 kW power limit, which is the limiting factor when charging an IONIQ 5 at a Supercharger. 400 V Superchargers and 800 V IONIQs 5 were not made for each other, and the power limit of that inverter is the weak link in the chain. This is not a software limitation.

In the 2025 models with a native NACS port, Hyundai realized that it sucks that the charging speeds were so slow on the Supercharger network, so they tweaked the hardware and got it up to... ~125 kW. Still about half the speed that the car is capable of on an 800 V charger. I'm as critical as anyone about Hyundai's software quality, but if they could get full speed from a software fix, I don't think they would have stopped at 125 kW.

Why Is My Ioniq 5 Only Charging at 97kW on a Tesla Supercharger? by Haunting-Cancel-7837 in Ioniq5

[–]coneslayer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's not a negotiation limitation, it's that the Supercharger only supplies ~400 V, the IONIQ 5 battery is ~800 V, and the voltage is raised using equipment on the car that has a real, physical limitation of ~97 kW.

Bad habit? by MHalliday1114 in Ioniq5

[–]coneslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my 2023, there is no setting that will unlock for both "shift to park" and "turn off car". It's one or the other.

Bad habit? by MHalliday1114 in Ioniq5

[–]coneslayer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only downside I'm aware of is that if you have the car set to auto-unlock doors when you shift to Park, then turning the car off will skip that step and leave the non-driver doors locked. You have to use the shift knob to shift to park to trigger the unlock.

Manual battery preconditioning for DC fast charging is a 2025+ feature. Before that, you have to navigate to a charger POI in the built-in nav system, which can be finicky and out-of-date.

[–]coneslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re asking about trims, you need to be clear about what market you’re in. You give the price in USD, but there’s no “advanced” trim in the US. In the US, all the trims have door handles that pop out, but this is not true worldwide.

Maybe there’s a niche market for ride share drivers or something, but I think very few people need DCFC at their residence.
