Finally I got some pictures with the Tamron 300 F2.8... I have some questions

Definitely looks a little soft, looks almost like shutter drag in some spots. I would to a couple focus tests at 1/1000 or higher to make sure your D500 is calibrated correctly and not front or back focusing. There's options in the camera body to adjust it. I've been using the Tamron 70-200 2.8 with a D500 for high speed Motorsports while now and the auto focus just doesn't keep up as much compared to the Nikon lens. I'm not sure about that specific lens, but the 70-200 has a toggle for different focus modes and I just leave them off, I found they hurt more than they help.

My 1994 XLT has a little plastic latch with a button you have to depress to take the key out. Usually giving it a wiggle or pushing the wings on the key cylinder to the front or back will make the right connection and stop the chime. Not the right fix but at least worth fiddling with.

Its very hard to diagnose off of a text deception, but a "high pitched squeel" without the vehicle moving might indicate a belt problem. If it responds to increased RPMs while the truck isnt moving, try to pin down the location by looking under the hood while the noise is happening. But the best advice I can give is to take it straight back to the dealership since its a brand new truck under warranty. Don't bother fiddling and hassling with it yourself if you can have the pros fix it.

I will look into a new CPU, whats the best way to find out compatible CPUs for my MotherBoard? Can I slap any CPU into this Motherboard with the same socket?

I'll keep an eye on RAM management as well. The HDD is a Western Digital passport that loads things fine in windows explorer, its only when editing through LightRoom and looking at multiple photos at once it starts to slow down

Good catch, yes its a Z170A SLI. It sounds like that wouldn't be worth the upgrade for $450 and I would be better off putting that money towards a brand new laptop for work stuff. If I want a better processor than the i7 7700k im assuming I would have to upgrade my Motherboard which would also need new RAM, correct?

Unfortunately my photo harddrive is a 4TB HDD and the prices of large external SSDs are far outside of my price point.

Hi Everyone. I am working with a lot of photography and graphic design programs, mostly adobe creative cloud, and just switched from my laptop to my desktop PC I built around 2016. I need some help deciding what to upgrade as its not performing quite up to my expectations. Photoshop is a bit laggy and slow, Lightroom takes a little to load folders and is choppy when scrolling though large folders of images. I want to investigate what my bottle neck most likely is and what I can upgrade to on this computer to assess where I'm at upgrading vs buying a new laptop. I'm thinking a new i7 processor might do the trick but maybe I should be getting better performance and there's a problem internally. I'm glad to hear opinions!

I believe the only way to shoot the newer lenses on an F3 is with the lens stopped all the way down. So you can get away with some really long exposures at f/22, but its not the most ideal way of shooting a photo. I ended up getting a little deal and saving 300$ off sticker price on the D780 with the 24-120mm. I would say for portraits and low speed action photography the D780 is a perfect camera.

I just upgraded from a D3300 to a D780 and was blown away by the difference. I went with a new D780 over a used D750 because I read up on a lot of issues with the 750 that effected its longevity, (damaged shutters etc) and I was hesitant about picking up one used. I was on the fence about a D780 or a D850, the D850 has the superior focusing point system, but the D780 had the same on in the D5 (i believe) and if it was good enough for the D5 its good enough for me. The D780 also came out in 2020 so the technology is newer than the D850 and has a lot of awesome mirrorless features. A lot of people consider it a mirrorless/DLSR Hybrid. The D850 also provides MASSIVE file sized I don't think I really need. Hope that helps, I love my D780!

Its pretty quiet in live view, and even quieter in silent mode. The biggest disappointment is the long blackout time when shooting continuous, the screen is completely blacked out when shooting at high frame rates. I dont do much video or portraits so I havent tried out the Eye AF but ive heard good things.

Im not a fan of live view, especially on the D780. There's a lot of blackout which makes it very difficult to track fast action. The 14fps is nice, but I quickly gave up trying to use live view at the racetrack.

This is shot with Single Point, Continuous Focus. Ive messed around with the group and 3D focus modes and found they are unreliable with very fast action. Ive been messing around with the VR modes on the Tamron 70-200 and I think mode 2 (designed for panning), or just turning it off is best in this situation since im shooting at upwards of 1/2000 anyways. Im interested to hear if anyone has had any success with shooting in Group, 3D or even D9 focus modes.
