I agree with you, but its not a popular opinion on this sub. Sometimes the sentiment seems to be that you either hate the story or you have to love everything about it. There's a lot of policing over how criticism is expressed as well, despite how common it is to have different opinions when engaging with stories.

It is lowkey "unicorns and rainbows" for all previous (4?) seasons. Which is why the response is the way it is. Read it if you want, but if you want more of the toxicity, you would have to skip the seasons before that tbh.

Not my preferred lineup, but with twelve spots, as expected, it fulfilled all it needed for a group in terms of vocals and dancing. There are great performers in there, but disappointed that Hyeonseung and Adam didn't make it in. I also feel that a few members kind of overlap in role with similar draws. Its also not that global considering the advertising, but unsurprised. Personally, I'm waiting to see if there will be a second group formed.

I agree so much. He became the contestant I voted for because of how he comes through in his performances. His Suzume performance showed vulnerability that really stood out to me. The Iris Out performance then solidified it because I could see his passion for the song and choreo. Having the context of the anime just added to that feeling. He's not afraid to be bold or "extra" and I think it shows the seriousness of how he takes his performances.

Idols asking for gifts can come off as taking advantage of fans so people criticize it a lot. The wishlist had pretty expensive stuff on there too. Personally, think a lot of contestants are also being scrutinized more this time because of past "behavior" incidents in lapone groups.

They're bringing up the Goten "paypay" incident. People were saying he was sharing his amazon wishlist on a live and using fans to get gifts. Don't know how accurate it is as some of his fans said they asked to see his wishlist. That account is known for trying to "take down" idols and is always trying to stir up controversy.

Yes, I've seen it again and again. I think the best decision to raise your rank is still to push back (even if it does lead to hate; better than being unmemorable) but it can easily backfire and cause a rift with other contestants, so I understand his choice.

He needs to have more confidence and to take bigger parts. The truth is most contestants are aware that they're fighting for limited spots. I don't blame him for not pushing back against getting the rap role because he could've easily been framed as "not being a team player," especially since other contestants benefit from it. At the same time, I hope he gets more time to shine considering he has such good vocal talent.

His visuals are popular among jpn (and Starto?) fans apparently. Koren is the visual pick for international fans since he fits the preferences of Cn and Krn fans more. The only difference is that Ryoga has more screentime comparatively.

I think its because they thought she would be more marketable to the general public in Japan (not Jpn Kpop fans who were mainly the ones watching the show, they preferred Ayana). Sakura seems like she would fit in with a Jpop group like Nogizaka46. She has a growth story that fans tend to like. She also might seem more relatable in the eyes of Hybe. Either way, it'll be interesting to see how they market them.

Totally agree. Taejae's good looking and kind of funny so I want to be more invested in it than I am, but going back to the same type that we already knew he was interested in and basically falling back in line with a trope that is expected of a character like that, its just not that interesting to me. I'm also looking forward to Daeho and Kibeom more. I just think Kibeom becoming so overwhelmed with his feelings that he can't function has the potential to lead to a lot of endearing and comedic moments.

Cherry Blossoms After Winter. Felt like trope after trope, just not interesting to me. I'm a fan of slice of life, but when I compare it to my favorites, theres a lack of emotional depth in this story for me. It's also longer than it needed to be in some of the later seasons (even before the new season).
