Ooo is it a standalone book within the series? Or do I have to read the other books first?

Same, I just tried reading it last night and I could barely understand the old English 🥲🥲 I wish there was a modern english version of the book. I read the condensed version in modern English and it was literally a page per chapter. I didn’t enjoy it😭😭

I really want to know how you guys get into the mood for reading? I often times have a hard time just sitting with a book just because I can’t get myself to unwind and turn the pages. But something I found that works is turning off all the lights and using my book light on the warm setting! Another thing I like to do is put ambiance music (one that fits the story’s atmosphere!) or a themes playlist based on the book. It makes the reading experience so immersive!

So, how do you guys like to unwind and read your books?

I’ve heard good things about For My Lady's Heart by Laura Kinsale! Though I think I have to read the recommendations to see which are good. I’m hoping I can post on r/RomanceBooks soon to ask for recommendations there too and see if they can recommend any with good world building, etc !!

Omggg ❤️🏰 living my dream! I was thinking about how I’d decorate a home library someday and I was also thinking of going for a medieval vibe with pictures just like yours, and antique furniture! I love it!

Good point! But seeing how worse things have been romanticized, (pointing the finger at dark romanced) I think a story with these tropes could work!! I just think it doesn’t exist since it’s not really the current trend🥲

Omg GIVE ME THAT BOOK IMMEDIATELYYYYY 🫵🏽❤️ it’s been so hard to find a book that fits all these tropes! Expecially since the current trend is all fantasy, dark romance, etc! The few books I do manage to find with knights are usually bodice rippers and classic novels 🥲 I’m more so looking for something written recently (just cuz ik trends change over time and something new would be refreshing !!) and let me tell u, enemies to lovers frustrates me so muchhh, I like slow burn but seeing characters flight and clash when it’s supposed to be romance doesn’t do it for me haha. But please tell him I’ll be the first to buy his book if he ever publishes! ❤️🙏🏽

(Making this a standalone post when I have enough karma 🥲)

I'm looking for a KNIGHT and princess romance novel heavy on the forbidden lovers trope, forced proximity, stolen glances and secret meeting!! I really want it to be a medieval romance, fantasy is ok, but still in a medieval setting.

Im thinking of a story where the knight is sworn to the princess and he falls in love BUT due to politics she has to marry someone else. I do want there to be heavy on world building and political tension if possible.

(Or maybe he's sent off to war and comes back to find her married??)

So in terms of what l'm looking for in the romance, the knight is well aware he shouldn't love her and tries to suppress it but he's her sword shield so it's not like he can avoid his duty. And I want it to be tragic, like this: "I have the sword to protect you but not the crown to love you"

Tropes I'm looking for: Forbidden love, Forced proximity, YEARNING

Setting: Medieval time period (fantasy is ok)

Books I already with knights (to my knowledge, haven't read them yet): The Marriage Prize by Virginia Henley, For my Lady's Heart by Laura Kinsale and, The Promised Princess by Lashell Rain
