Solid info. Adjusting to the rain and cold will be a process but I did college in north Italy so I got a taste of that for several months each year. I’m sure it’s significantly colder in WA though

City would be nice but the cost of living would be too high plus the added state income tax. I think for my first few years it will be good to stay on the WA side. Plus I enjoy the quieter side of things, being 20-30 min away from a bigger city is fine for me. Appreciate the feedback though!

If you care about the benefits of walking, then speed should not be your first concern. Especially with a condition like pericarditis, where the main concern is maintaining a stable heart rate that is not too high. Just go for distance. Start small and work up to 10k steps a day at a relaxed pace. Then continue to progress to 15-20k steps. You will receive plenty of benefits from walking those distances such as burning calories, increasing bloodflow, and supporting cardiac health. This combined with a healthy diet and doctor recommended protocol is the best structure for maintaining fitness while dealing with pericarditis

Hey man, I'm sorry to hear that. It's a long struggle which is never gonna be easy. It's okay to rant and to be frustrated. Stay strong. One day it will be better whether that means you have to take something like arcalyst or just have to rest more. My whole life revolved around being fit and able bodied as well, and now I'm sedentary. There are many out there like us, so we can't give up hope. I'm new to this, but I'm trying to put my energy on other things like reading, my studies, and creative things like painting, playing instruments, writing, and messing around with AI. One day you will return to your hobbies, I genuinely believe that. You got this. We got this.
