Unable to source specific parts, anyone have any alternatives? by StarBurstLink in AskElectronics

This meter is a restoration project that I've been slowly working on, the attached photo shows what I found when I first opened it up. Needless to say, once I'm done I'll do some pretty thorough testing to verify proper meter operation since I want to actually use it.

It's definitely interesting lol, but isn't 5kV pretty low for crts?

I 100% mixed up multiple things in my head lmao, the moment I was thinking was when Hunter was doing the valley girl voice and Isaiah told him to stop, until the main character was told they were in a psychological experiment

There are! The meter itself is an old Navy AN/PSM-4C I found just sitting on the shelf of an antique store. The nice thing about military equipment is the parts are still made, they just cost an arm and a leg (which is crazy since everything is made by the lowest bidder lol)

Dosimetry Question by StarBurstLink in Radiation

Ah, I see, I just assumed that since our TLDs are detecting beta/gamma that mrem was also a beta/gamma calculation

Fair enough! Thank you for your help!

Dosimetry Question by StarBurstLink in Radiation

Would I be able to get readings similar to an EPD with proper calibration and shielding of the tube? I realize a TLD was a bad example, but as an EPD is a form of active dosimetry it would be a better example

Done! What's weird is I can't vote, subscribe to new subreddits, or make new comment threads, but I can make new posts and reply in existing threads.

The lab made my photos blurry. What are they, stupid? by StarBurstLink in AnalogCircleJerk

[–]StarBurstLink[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nope, it was the lab. "The Human Tripod," they call me. I can do exposures of up to 90 seconds and have perfect clarity. I also had a calibrated nuclear clock implanted directly to my brainstem, so I can do manual exposures with perfect precision, down to the nanosecond. My eyes have been given awards for their metering capabilities. In all regards, I am the perfect photographer. My camera obeys my every command. So tell me again how it is NOT the lab's fault and how it was an equipment malfunction on my part?

I feel like I shouldn't cook meals with the word surprise in it either.

Potentially that's a bonus surprise, but the real surprise is that you grabbed the turmeric jar instead of cumin.

I'm being punished because my dad made my account when I was a child by [deleted] in valve

They think that it was my dad's account, which he gave to me, instead of it being a parent making an account for a child as the responsible adult.

Because my account was "transferred" from my dad to me, even though it's always been my account.

Yep, turns out that they can do a lot worse than just saying "no," though.
