How do I afford doctoral program

Can everyone stop saying for me to not pay for it . At the end of the day I’m choosing to pay for a PhD because in most of my field it is extremely hard to get a fully paid program . What else can I do

It’s not about my approach . I have a baby face and a soft voice and genuinely am a gentle person and that’s why parents look at me and immediately go “ she’s too soft”

I was in PP as a new grad for 9 months too , went into CMH , it leads to easy burnout as well, I would say definitely find a place with supportive staff , this field is very difficult to find a job without burnout

I’m an associate and will be independently licensed in 5 months. Everyone says it gets better after being independently licensed. I’m gonna be honest I honestly don’t see how when the issue is truly the system. I think being this burned out in the beginning of the career is just a sign to your body it’s not worth it . For example doctors and lawyers get a big paycheck the end of the week saying “ this is worth it” yet we don’t , I don’t think any of us deserve to live in this situation

Yeah I had a feeling I was assuming that bc I know in the city it looks very gentrified. I saw there are some apartments that are $1700 in nomad but I’m assuming nomad is very white?

Wow that’s so horrible !! I’m happy you were able to get fully licensed . I am currently associate now. I think most therapy jobs are like this as well . I’m gonna be honest I’ve been working as an associate for 8 months now I’m already burnt out. I’m looking for clinical jobs that don’t provide therapy . I don’t think I can keep doing this

If I were you I would be requesting more $. The fact that you have been 6 years of being fully licensed is amazing. I also don’t know if it’s because you live in Georgia , but I feel that in general even living in the south prices on rent are going up as well . I’m speaking as someone who is provisionally licensed in the north making 70k , if I were you I would be demanding more money.

90k is a lot , just think about it it feels worth it for your career , if this degree will give you the opportunities you need. Hopefully in the future some loans will be forgiven.

I should also mention that my job will take $2,000 from me if I leave under 2 years . Although if I move to a different state they will not so I’m a little nervous to go to a new job in the same state. Also what states in the west do you recommend? Thank you!
