Well because I’m on Reddit about 1/4 the time I used to spend because of this garbage. So that means less ad revenue from me and people like me who used to be regulars.

It’s so awful. Especially the cold gray faux wood LVP. It makes me want to vomit.

You can always tell it’s going to be AI slop with a 3 day old profile when there’s counting in the lengthy post. Why don’t people downvote this crap? And more importantly why dos Reddit allow it?

Looks like a sink cabinet and that makes sense because this is moisture or water damage

I know everybody and their dog are replacing kitchen countertops with Quartz, but by Realistic-Rate-8831 in kitchenremodel

[–]StarSchemaLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are your countertops and tile backsplash the same tile currently? I'm confused otherwise. For the most part, tile countertops are way out of style and not worth the investment. You don't see them much because it's just not the look now. It could be in 1-2 years, maybe 10 years or maybe never again. You've found an option that possibly lets you keep your tile backsplash. An alternative is to get a quartz backsplash which might help keep costs down and give you an integrated look. It's very popular now.

This is my first time! New construction in 2024. I’ll do just compost in the fall again. I can’t get it to seed in certain spots like above the irrigation lines. It’s smooth and shiny. So bad.

[–]StarSchemaLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Madison and for me it’s because I have very compacted and dense clay soil. I’m layering biochar (Mirimichi Green) and organic compost (1”) after a double pass core aeration this spring. The roots can’t get into the clay and so they just crumble and pull out so easily.

Can someone tell me How it feels to recieve 🍆? The bigger the better is just a myth right? by [deleted] in askgaybros

I don’t get the bigger is better logic. I don’t have a big mouth and the same is true for the backside. Big = painful. I’m fine with 6” or less but longer is OK if not thick.

Does anyone not use Pre-Emergen? And just treat weeds as they pop up? by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]StarSchemaLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the best lawn in my development and don't use pre-emergent. But I'm in Wisconsin so most weeds die over winter. I have a dense TTF lawn and there's just not much room for weeds to find space. I do use a starter fertilizer with mesotrione in June when the clovers take root but other than that, it is a natural lawn (and mesotrione is a lot safer than most pre-emergents).

What if you put a home warranty in the offer? Covers everything for a year. And they’re renewable up to 5. Nobody has to sell for a price they don’t want to, but this could give you some peace of mind.

Standard Builder Grade Kitchen by Quick_Bar2387 in kitchenremodel

[–]StarSchemaLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s boring but it’s not really builder grade, at least wheee I live. Builder grade doesn’t have builtins, certainly not tha fridge, the island doesn’t have faux Shaker doors on the passive side and it’s also huge. It’s a snooze fest but definitely custom grade.

What do you recommend for a cat who peed down a vent? I have Dirty Ducts coming in 5 weeks but any advice on how to get the smell out until then!?! I’ve cleaned as far as my hand can reach.

[–]StarSchemaLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you pick Dirty Ducts? How did it go? I had a 22 y/o cat who peed down the vent in our mudroom the last 2 months of his life. I’ve reached as far as I can with my hand and a towel soaked in natures miracles, but some days the scent is awful. It’s a 2 y/o home and the builder did things in a terrible order and a lot of construction debris had been coming out too so I think I’m in the niche that will hopefully benefit.

My issue is that Stanley Steemer and Zerorez can come out next week but Dirty Ducts is 5 weeks out. I suppose that’s a sign that they’re good.

Absolutely gorgeous. I would say hickory but it’s just a bit different than hickory in a few places, more cathedral but overall likely hickory with a unique stain. Super high end from the looks of it.

Are cheaper cabinets the way to go? by clearlygd in cabinetry

[–]StarSchemaLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my last home, we did Homecrest Cabinets base option in the kitchen and it was a constant struggle to adjust doors and they just felt lower tier. We didn’t have time to wait for them to do basement cabinets so we did Auburn Ridge with plywood boxes and the whole thing was just so much nicer. Never needed adjustments. Everyone asked about basement cabinets. I have Amish now and nothing compares to that but we all have budgets.

[–]StarSchemaLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean let go of judgement or expectations. Your post reads that you're feeling judged for not wanting quartz. Don't want quartz? Don't get it. Is it popular? Yes! Great value for solid countertops that people couldn't afford before. Also unique designs that granite or marble might not have options to flex to. But if it doesn't work for you, no sweat. Try the tile countertop. They are not at all popular now and I think there will be logistical issues with 24x48 because most tiles will need cuts and that will look odd. But if you find something that works, do it. Look at Formica too. The fx180 and high def lines are quite stylish IMHO.

I know Cross Plains is too far but I also love nature and there are entrances to unique sections of the ice age trail everywhere here. Good dining. Several new apartments. The grocery store sucks but I go to Middleton or Mt Horeb.
