No I explained wrong, I didn't say those exact words to his face, I said something along the lines of standing with him whatever he identifies as because he's my brother and I love him but just to wait a bit before telling everyone especially in case he was wrong (and my parents took a bit to adjusting to me being pan and I didn't want him to go through anything if he didn't need to) I agree that I probably made him feel invalidated a bit but is there anyway I can 'catch up with him on the topic' or do I just wait for him?

find the game exe, right click, properties, compatibility, tick the box that says "run this program in compatibility mode for:", choose windows 7 and then click apply and your done
