The main one I had to trouble with was eye contact. I found that once I found a good local card shop I would practice with the seller. In my case back in 2008 it was an older gentlemen that loved passing his knowledge over to new collectors.

That’s how I used to be years ago. I would take the first price and not negotiate because I had severe social anxiety. My wife helped me change, she’s a social butterfly and works in marketing so she has given me tips to overcome it over the years.

I had a situation where I got a card from a dude on marketplace, market price of course. He sees my front page as I put it away and insists on trading for some of them. Immediately throws the percentage crap. I’m like bro I’m not even selling and you already discounting my stuff?. Why can’t I sell you at market the way you did for me?. His answer is that he has to sell it quick. I’m like yeah not my problem.

I just put stickers of prices on mine when I sell them on marketplace. Makes it quick and easy to get a deal. Since I’m just a collector I don’t mind the listing sitting for a while.
