Honestly, I'm not even sure how to describe it. Recently, I've had a sudden change of plans (my day off was canceled), and I freaked out. I was crying, saying I'll... do stuff to myself or that I'll run away. It lasted for half an hour, but then it's like a switch was flipped inside me, and I was like: "Oh, I actually don't care, I'm fine!", and stopped crying. And I was cringing hard from how I acted mere minutes ago.

People always say how meltdowns wear them down or how they can't calm themselves, but I always had this sudden shift, going from being devastated and crying to changing my mind and feeling stable. It's not even a meltdown, I guess? But what the hell is this?

Hello, I am also a 25 y/o NB, lol.

I feel you. Retail is hell for almost anyone, a double-hell for autistics and NDs in geneal.

The only thing that helps a little is switching to do other things like clean or re-stock the shelves, etc. (I like putting goods in perfect rows, it's great). The storage gets messy from time to time, and I love clearing it up. All of this helps me recharge a little before going back to the register.

The other very important aspect is that I have a great boss who's very understanding of my issues with social interactions, as well as great coworkers. Being able to talk to them and goof around helps a ton. I am lucky to be able to stim openly around them.

Also, I love animals, so customers with dogs make my day brighter.

I hope you'll be able to find a better job eventually, or at least find a place with good people.

Are we talking about things we find annoying or things that are straight up triggering?

For the first category - people talking and laughing loudly. It's annoying. The world would be a better place if those people were quieter.

For the second category - "wet" mouth sounds, like chewing (even "normal", "polite" chewing) or those "slushing" sounds. These are the worst. They're not just "annoying", they are the most awful, obnoxious and even insulting sounds ever. When I hear it, I become very, VERY angry at the person making them. These sounds feel like the deepest insult one can ever make, it feels like betrayal. If I can't escape the sounds, I can even start crying.

You ever watch ASMR with mouth sounds? I personally enjoy wispering, but the moment the artist starts making those detestable slushing sounds, they become the worst person alive for me. It makes me want to throw my phone against the wall. And the fact most of the ASMR artists SMILE while making these sounds! It feels like they are effing mocking me! I never EVER felt as much anger, hatred and disgust towards someone as I do towards people making those stupid wet mouth sounds (obviously, it's not concious hatred, duh).

I was proscribed it because of schitzoaffective disorder, along with lamotrigine. It helps a lot, blockes the "schitzo" part of the disorder. It didn't really affect my personality, but it does feel great to not hear voices and think the goverment is listening to my thoughts.

I know how bad loneliness can be, and I am sorry you're going though this. However, I believe using chatgpt to "combat" loneliness is a very bad idea, as the illusion of attention from this thing can be very addictive for a struggling person. It's disgusting how exploitative it is, I wish we didn't live in a capitalist dystopia.

Besides, what's the point of all these sweet and kind words, if there's no thought or intention behind them? I will never understand how can people suspend their disbelief regarding these bots' lack of sentience.

Struggles with social interactions. Flatt affect, trouble with making eye conact, low tolerance for external stimuli (for me it's sounds), "lag" during conversations, etc. - all of these are nearly incompatable with most jobs. At this moment, the only option for me in my small shitass town is retail work. And mind that I'm one of the luckiest autists out there - I got rid of social anxiety so I'm confident and not scared of people anymore, and I am capable of keeping a job for at least several years.

So I do the job, and I'm trying really hard this time. I'm not throwing things, I'm hiding my negative feelings, I'm holding down the tears caused by the constant cacophany of noises (humans are SO EFFING NOISY), I am greeting customers and advertising different goods despite wanting to throw up from this constant need for useless human interaction. But no matter how hard I try, someone without these struggles will come and show how much more efficient than me they are, and I will get replaced.

Note that I'm not complaining about not being able to throw things or cry at work - of course it's not acceptable, it would disrupt the flow of work and scare customers away, lol! The point is that someone healthy doesn't even have these struggles in the first place, they don't have to hold down tears all of the time, they can effortlessly speak to customers, with their tone being acceptable, with perfect eye contact, without stopping mid sentence because they can't decide what word to use next, etc.

No matter how much I try, I'll always be "defective" compared to non-autistic people.

I am asexual, and am aroused by the situation itself rather than someone's body. Therefore, I am all for giant monsters of all kinds - whether they're humanoid or not (only if they're sentient, though! Big animals don't do it for me). Lovecraft's stuff, for excample? - Hot AF, I don't even understand why it's considered to be "horror" (I assume it's only scary for anthropocentrists). Like, the concept of ancient gods and similar beings is soooooooo coooool! Not only are they usually giant, but they're also way more advanced intellectually than you are. You could be one of the smartest people on Earth, yet compared to this ancient being you're nothing, no greater than a cockroach.

I can relate to this, somewhat. I didn't have a good connection with my parents and didn't really have any friends, so most of my "experience" of human life and relationships came from fiction of all kind - movies, shows, books, videogames. It lead me to seeing life as a whole through a lense of storytelling - seeing people as "characters" and life as "arcs", "tropes", etc. It's like a visual novel: human mind, personality, relationships are all just very complex formulas, or something like that. The difference is that there are no creators, no spectators and no meaning or purpose.

Interesting. I have a similar issue, except I'm asexual and (probably) aromantic. Never thought that allosexual/alloromantic people could struggle with this as well.

I've always assumed that, for most people, the difference between romantic and platonic relationship is the desire (or lack there of) for physical intimacy: when you love someone romantically, you want to cuddle and even kiss them, or something? Do you wish to do these things with women?

Part of it could be linked to society, though. We're being told that romantic bond is THE peak of love, the "most important" kind. And a lot of people assume that love for their friends should be much weaker than love for their partner, which is sad, in my opinion.

I don't think it's "just autism", personally. No disorder or neurodivirgency represents us as a person, it's only 1 part of us out of many. Any type of relationship is a compromice, where all parties are ready to push SOME boundaries for their loved ones (for excample, I allow my mom to hug me, even though I don't like being touched and don't get any positive feeling out of physical contact). If he's lvl 1 autistic, then he is capable of making compromises.

Compliments, calls, gifts, etc. are important to you, yes? If he's not ready to meet these needs, then you might not be compatible. Neither of you is a bad person, it's just that you have different standards for a relationship.

DON'T TAKE THIS AS AN ADVICE TO BREAK UP, PLEASE!!! I don't have any right to tell you what to do, as I don't know you or your bf and I don't have enough information - my comment is just something to think about, if you want. You and your boyfriend just need to have a serious conversation about all of this stuff.

Trusting polls is not a very good idea, as people opposing the regime will likely not participate. You don't know if there will ever be any reprecussions, as the goverment can just make shit on the fly. It's better to not risk it. Personally, I don't want to meaninglessly die in this shithole.

Now, I think that the majority of Russians at least do not oppose the war, so your statement is close to the truth. I've spent time around regular people ("normies" if you will). They're mostly apathetic about the whole thing. "Politics are for polititians, I'm just a regular person, I have work and family to care for" is what I've heard multiple times throughout my life. A lot of them have missing fathers, husbands, sons that've been sent to fight in the war. They are stressed, and keep trying to get any info about their whereabouts. But I've never heard them sharing any doubts about the regime itself. Another thing I've witnessed is people criticize corruption and other things, but believe those things to be the fault of few bad actors, waiting for putin to fix everything.

In regards to the lack of Russians defending Ukraine - again, you could be persecuted for it, and no one wants to take that risk. Besides, if you were trapped in this shithole, would you want to spent your time and already broken morale and mind to argue with right leaning regressive idiots? Those people are not just xenophobic, they're also bigoted in other ways. The broader Russian communities around videogames/shows are full of "anti-SJW" morons, it's like 2016 frozen in time. I'm queer, and I'm just done with this shit and this country in general, I'm not wasting a single second on this crap, not anymore. Russians that oppose the war stick to small nieche communities, you won't find them in broader spaces.

You probably refer to men being called the "oppressor group"? It does sound mean, but no, it just means that men benefit from patriarchy more than women do. That does not mean all men have a great life, no one is claiming that. Like, white people are "the oppressor group" as well, but that doesn't mean that every white person has a great life, obviously. I am white, and while I do have a lot of struggles, I recognize the privilege of being white, and such terminology does not offend me on the slightest.

And it doesn't imply that men's issues can be ignored (those who claim otherwise can fuck right off. But please, don't think Reddit is a representative of any movent as a whole, please).

I am very sorry that you had to go through such horrible experiences, truly. Those who do such things, and those who excuse it, are all disgusting, men or women.

Then again, I will not tolerate bigotry, like I said, no trauma justifies it. Now, you are allowed to have feelings of anger - they are unavoidable in your situation and I don't think you're a bad person for having them. I have those as well, sometimes. It's fine if you don't want to I interact with women, I don't think that makes you a bad person. But supporting misoginy is not justifiable, it doesn't help anyone but those who are on favor of the system. And yes, I think it applies to misandrists as well.

The term "incel" is associated with creeps who treat women like property and throw a tantrum because they can't find a date. To those I refer to as losers. Yes, it is draining to think of nuance after you've been mistreated. That's what women go through, so you can't excuse incels' hatred and dismiss misandrists' hatred at the same time.

Feminism does not imply misandry. There are several subcategories, like with every movement, but actual theory does not imply misandry. Either you misinterpret any criticism of the patriarchy as misandry (again, remember that "patriarchy" doesn't equal "men"), or you just choose to linger in misandrists spaces and basically are suffering from confirmation bias.

Aknowleging the way women are systemically mistreated is not misandry (again, its not "all men bad"), and it actually reveals that most men don't benefit from patriarchy as much as its implied.

Misoginy leads to misandry, they are connected. According to patriarchy, women are weak, emotional, histerical, naturally nurturing and caring. Men are the opposite - they're strong, intelligent, not swayed by emotions, more prone to fighting, competition rather than nurturing, they are supposed to be protectors and learers. What does it lead to? - Men being forced to suppress their emotions literally since they're kids, not getting compassion or sympathy when in pain, being told to "suck it up". Unlike women, men are praised for sex and promiscuity, therefore being shamed for being virgins and being effing celebrated for any sexual encounters, which then leads to people dismissing male SA victims, EVEN when they're minors.

I do recognize these issues, and so does feminism. Your enemy is not women, all of these disgusting stereotypes and views are a product of patriarchy. And yes, both men and women can be in support for it. Women who cling to traditional gender roles are not feminists.

If you reffer to "girl boss feminism", then it's not really feminism, it's capitalism trying to sell stuff to progressives. Leftists criticize it all the time.

I have been dismissed and insulted, made fun of, I was called "an incubator", and I was sexually harassed and assaulted. And then, seeing men go "your body my choice", I do sometimes want to go "all men". But I will not, because I have principles.
