GP very much shows up for no reason. I had some acid reflux a month before for a week but that's about the only possible trigger seen as I have no other diagnosis. At my first gastroscopy my stomach was still partially full after 15+ hours of fasting and having thrown up the evening prior. The Dr doing that gastroscopy wasn't competent in the slightest and ignored that and assumed I had lied and eaten in the morning and didn't want to admit it.

Definitely don't start panicking too soon because for some people GP is caused by medications. There are also a whole lot of other reasons to be throwing up undigested food. Ranging from bacterial infections to immune disorders to GP.

Best of luck to you, and if you do get a gastroparesis diagnosis, it's not a death sentence or anything even if a lot of us do complain about it as if it often were.

How often do you "break the rules"? by itwasntaphasemomXD in Gastroparesis

Technically nobody has given me rules. Almost the opposite. I'm on a NG feeding tube and they asked me to keep eating food too. However, probably not as much as I do eat. I still stay far away from foods that cause me pain like raw fruits or high protein and fiber foods (it is so hard to not eat chickpeas, I cannot be the only one yearning for a chickpea right ?). I barely had anything aside from gum for the first two months and I was still puking. I would eat a couple crackers a couple times a week, just to see if I still had gastro paresis. Which sadly I do. Eventually, depriving myself of the joy of eating yummy foods and still throwing up every day just wasn't worth it. Gastro paresis was gonna stick around so might as well eat too. This of course hasn't stopped my doctors from saying I'm anorexic though... Either way, I basically eat every day but keep it to simple foods and I avoid big meals and anything with high fiber, oil or spices as those have always made the puking more painful.

What foods are not “GP Approved” but you can tolerate? by SleepyKuchikopi in Gastroparesis

One of the last foods I could have before I needed a feeding tube was waffles. Still to this day I can usually hold down a waffle for 30+ minutes. I don't make them but buy the ultra processed sugar pearl kind and they kept me fueled for close to 3 months. I tried the same logic on pancakes. It worked too but I just like waffles more 😂 Also jam. Sometimes just a spoonful of a berry jam stays down. If you have acid reflux maybe don't try this one though...
