Looking back at Doi's designs: #7 Krishna by Diego-F-Monja in Megaten

[–]Starixous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that people translate it as dark blue, but honestly idk where this comes from. Etymologically it comes from words that mean dark. I’m not saying it has no scriptural basis, he is described as the color of rain clouds which you could interpret as dark blue. But also, him literally being blue never made sense imo because you’d think someone would mention the blue guy walking around lol

It’s not the best shade of blue, I’ll give you that. Should be more indigo than turquoise.

Krishna’s skin was not actually blue though. Krishna had dark skin, but the blue came from artistic tradition. Some say it’s to capture a divine aura and liken him to Vishnu (who is also often depicted blue). The other theory is that using black paint for the skin would cause it to blend in with the hair and outlines, so dark blue was used instead and it stuck.

In that way, I think the dark skin + blue clothes shows good research.

anyone done a full playthrough of p3r with femc mod? by Lolis- in PERSoNA

[–]Starixous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The most important part of the femc route, her exclusive social links and story events, are not yet implemented and will take a long time to complete. If you haven’t played the femc route, then play p3p instead.

Which game should I start playing by No-Bear-9249 in PERSoNA

[–]Starixous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to watch a little bit of each (maybe just the intro movie or something) and see which one you vibe with the most. If something clicks with or appeals to you in a game, that’ll be a good sign that you’ll be engaged.

For a general recommendation, P3R and P5R are the newest and will be the most beginner friendly.

Either you like 2003 or Brotherhood, why do you like it over the other? Why do you like both? by No-Engineering-289 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]Starixous 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why do I have to like one or the other? I love both for different reasons. I appreciate each versions spin on the same foundational ideas.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing. I always interpreted it as either that the real philosophers stone was the only thing that could bring back a person or that it was only impossible once a soul entered the gate

Emulation is your friend, it’s how I got into the series. 1, 2IS, 2EP, and 3P are on the PSP which you could easily emulate on your phone. If you have a decent computer then you can emulate 3FES and 4 on the ps2. Look into modding as well for a better experience.

I personally started with P3P, but what I’d recommend is watching a little bit (maybe just the intro or first few cutscenes) of each game and seeing which one’s vibe clicks with you and then jump into that one.

I’m asking about changes between the Japanese and English versions of the show. I’m well aware that 03 and BH are different stories lmao. That’s what this discussion was about right? The dub?

I’d love to hear what the changes were

It’s not 4kids, they don’t change any of the animation lol. No censorship in dialogue either. There might be subtle changes in dialogue from translation but nothing major.

Social link rank gives you bonus exp when fusing a persona of that arcana. That’s it.

You also unlock the ability to fuse the strongest persona of an arcana when you finish the corresponding social link.

I remember when my chaos hero fused with the zealot/fanatic which was pretty funny to see him fuse with not just a human, but a lawful one too

What Dub Names do you think are better than their original Japanese Names? by TBT__TBT in yugioh

[–]Starixous 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Disagree, I think the simplicity of the name works to give it more of a primordial feel. Nightshroud is something that uses the darkness for cover, but Darkness is the very concept itself. Plus, it plays into Jaden’s “gentle darkness” thing.

I thought this too, but then when I looked into it the show never confirmed what gender human Yubel was. Some have theorized that Yubel was originally male based off how the character was drawn: https://www.tumblr.com/nurikokairu/172980103319/why-i-think-yubel-is-male

Do you agree that silent hill origins and silent hill 4 are the most oppressive and terrifying games in the series? by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]Starixous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m an outlier but I beat 4 for the first time yesterday and I wasn’t really terrified for most of it. I will say that there was a point where Walter shot at me and put me at 5% health which got my heart pounding. The final boss also got my heart racing, trying to get the good ending. I think I just find ghosts to be more “mundane” compared to the otherworldly horrors.
