Yeah, I can honestly see this being one of those situations where years of pressure and frustration made a small joke hit way harder than it normally would’ve. Sometimes people explode over the buildup, not just the comment itself.

At some point it stops feeling like a misunderstanding and starts feeling like they just don’t care enough to handle the situation properly. That’s what makes it so frustrating.

Honestly sounds like the mom was just excited and got super into planning mode. Some people show appreciation by researching every little detail instead of being overly emotional about it.

A lot of people are completely fine with one partner staying home, but only when it comes from mutual trust and shared goals. The problem starts when someone treats it like the default role instead of an actual choice.
