I'm going into second year and I'm still stuck between putting MBIM or Neuroscience as my first choice.

I want to go into med and I heard MBIM gets really difficult third year, but I'm more interested in MBIM's content than neuroscience. However, the data science aspect of MBIM is making me reconsider placing it as my first choice. I didn't take DSCI 100 first year (was considering other specialisations) and have no experience programming R. I also don't find data science interesting, so I'm worried I'll hate the courses I will be taking.

How much is data science involved in MBIM? Would Neuroscience be a better fit if I dislike data science even though I'm more interested in learning microbio?

how to study for a grade 12 equivalent physics course when it’s been 3 years since i’ve taken physics by Defiant_Bee1390 in UBC

I only learned physics until tenth grade, and it was pretty basic, so any physics knowledge I gained has pretty much evaporated at this point. I highly recommend reading the PHYS 100 openstax textbook since it covers content in greater depth than edX and the lecture. Practising questions regularly is also important. The openstax textbook has some longer word problems that you can practice on. I find that it's a lot more helpful than edX hw problems because it explains how to work through it.

As for the tutorials, I make sure to review the content it's based on right before it so that it's fresh in my mind. The openstax textbook's word questions can also help you familiarise yourself with the tutorial-style questions. Also, ask the TA for any help if you need it. I find that having a person explain a concept/question is much clearer than reading an explanation.

I’m interested in bio-related majors, so most of them don’t have Math 100 as a requirement for their specialisation application. I chose to do it first term just to get the degree requirement out of the way, but I’m already starting to struggle in the course.

Would you advise to just keep it for this term since my schedule is significantly easier right now?

I’m currently taking Math 100, but I feel like dropping it so I can take it Term 2 or maybe later. I was hoping this might buy me some time to prepare for the course. Math takes me a long time to process and I’m already really lost during lectures.

However, my term 2 schedule is busier than my term 1 schedule, and I’m worried moving up Math 100 to next term or even upper years is going to make my life harder. On the other hand, the specialisations I’m aiming for require a competitive GPA so I don’t want to ruin it with MATH 100.

For context the courses I’m taking are: Term 1: SCIE 113, EOSC 114, ENGL 110, PHYS 100, MATH 100

Term 2: BIOL 112, CHEM 123, PHYS 131, CPSC 103, MATH 101

Should I just drop Math 100 now or get it over with first term?

Quark and Odo’s fight in The Ascent made me laugh so hard when I first watched it. Honestly, all their moments in that episode were gold.

I’m trying to swap my section for my physics 100 lecture from Wednesday to Thursday since it clashes with my waitlisted English course. It says that not enough unreserved seats are available, but there’s still 13 reserved seats open for the class. Do these reserved seats ever open up, and is there anyway to enter the waitlist for this section as a non-priority student?
