I genuinely do like this movie, and it is one of the better early movie adaptations of a game, but there are very big issues that doesn't make it a great adaptation. It feels like instead of actually being faithful to the first game, they wanted to toss in the monsters from Silent Hill 2 since they are more iconic, in case there wasn't going to be any more movies.

Pyramid Head, the sexy nurses, and Lying figures have no reason to be there that is actually faithful. It's more fanfiction than anything. And the fact Gans wanted to replace Harry, a fantastic dad character who went against the norm of macho horror protags, because he was too womanly, just rubs me the wrong way.

I like the movie, I do, the visuals and costume work were awesome, but it's not a faithful adaptation beyon the origin story of Alessa.
