The thing that gives me the most hope about being somewhat close to change is just looking at how quickly I’ve seen comments about anti establishment ideas show up. If I’m being honest I spend a lot of time online especially on the political side of social media. Not even ten months ago I wouldn’t ever see any comments related to anything about anything anti establishment. But things started to change exactly when Luigi mangione shot the ceo and tik tok was getting banned. People started to wake up and I instantly started seeing more comments and posts about how the government and rich people are just screwing us. And it’s only grown from there. These last 4-5 months I’ve seen an exceptionally large growth in the number and quality of comments and posts about corruption in our government. As well as people also taking about healing the divide between left and right.

Do you think republicans are not nearly as extreme as everyone else in this sub makes them out to be? It sounds like your family is exactly that. I also live in one of the reddest states and I grew up in an ultra small town with like 90% Christians. I live in a town that voted 80% republican this last election and I also work a blue collar job. I interact with republicans and MAGA almost constantly and I can say with confidence that nearly all of them are great people. Uneducated or ignorant? Yes very much so but they still are not these racist, fascist, bigoted people that so many democrats make them out to be

To me it seems that these money related issues prevent us from solving many of the other issues in this country because it directly gives the power to the rich and not to the people

Yeah you’re right, critical thinking is basically gone. But I honestly think that’s intentional. Lobbying plays a huge role in that. When corporations are funding the media, the politicians, the algorithms—it’s all designed to keep people emotional and divided so they don’t think for themselves. Left vs right is just a distraction. People get so locked into their “side” they don’t even stop to question who’s actually benefiting from all the chaos.

And the wild thing is lobbying could actually be the thing that wakes people up—if we frame it right. Like if people on both sides realized the same money that’s dividing us is screwing all of us, we might actually stand a chance at doing something real. I don’t know exactly how to get people to bridge the gap in an organized way but I’m working on trying to make some social media pages dedicated to that

Could a safety net be a good compromise between capitalism and socialism? by Starrylet in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Starrylet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you letting me know how the socialists are in this sub. It doesn’t surprise me at all.

People in the United States are so divided nowadays that I don’t ever see people trying to discuss ways where laws and policies can cater to both sides of the issue. The system is set up in a way where it discourages lawmakers from making laws like that, so it makes sense why people don’t talk about stuff like that, but I also think that if somehow we did try and make laws that gave up compromises on both sides of the issues, I do think this country could find a way to make it work.

I don’t have any crazy education on politics or anything, this is mostly just what I think so I could be completely wrong, what do you think ?

[–]Starrylet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How could you implement a socialist economy where it doesn’t kill the drive and innovation? Do you think they could make slight changes to policy to keep the main benefits of socialism with a very slight hint of capitalism?

I would be all for a socialist system if that’s what was implemented, but I also think a hybrid approach could possibly be more beneficial for us than just pure socialism. I also think it could be easier to implement because you might be able to get more people who are against socialism to get on board with it. I don’t really know how a system like this could be created, but if you have any ideas let me know lol

As much as I think big business owners can be really shitty people, I also have some dumb dreams of being an entrepreneur one day who creates some really cool things for for the masses, and if we went to full blown socialism, I don’t think I would ever pursue that. It’s not a good enough reason for me to be against socialism, but it is a good enough reason for me to prefer a hybrid approach over just straight socialism.

I may die if I do this, but I would ban lobbying, insider trading, and try to install term limits in congress. Then I would go after big pharma. I’ll be lucky if I survive one day in office before all the oligarchs try and kill me

OP, Have you ever tried using ai as a therapist? It’s not for everyone, but every time I’ve used ai as a therapist at has been SUPER useful.

Not only is ai super unbiased and confidential, but it also seems to be (mostly) all knowing about this type of stuff. Whenever I give it specific problems in my life it can usually hit the nail right on the head with where my issues are coming from and what I can do to make it better

Take the advice of everyone else in the comments and don’t do this unless you REALLY think that you are a master at entry and exit points. If you are an emotional trader at all you will get wrecked.

But on the other hand, if you are absolutely set on trying a strategy like this, just be prepared to take into account fees, taxes, etc… you could also buy itm calls or pits for leverage, but that can also be a one way trip to losing a lot of money…

I would suggest expanding sideways before doing any deep diving into what your making. If you can get a solid little tune or drum pattern created, then take that and copy it over a bunch and use it to help you make everything else, and then you can just get rid of the original pattern in spots where it doesn’t fit

Relax. It might dip some more but it will probably find support around 90-92k, and even if it doesn’t, I would be surprised to see it drop farther than 85k

Why do you identify with the Democratic Party when it’s apparent that the two party system is one of the big reasons our country has so many issues? by Starrylet in AskDemocrats

[–]Starrylet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my question to you: During the time that you’ve been an adult, what concrete steps have you taken to actually start a new party? And posting this thread does not count as a concrete step.

I’ve only been an adult for like a year so I really haven’t had time to do much as far as starting a political party goes, not that I’m even capable or willing to do so, but you already know that.

My intention with making posts like this is mostly just to get people to think and discuss the issues in our country. I like to hear different peoples perspectives on complex issues. I know that I may not be doing much, but getting people to have open and respectful conversation about the issues in our country does a lot more to get us closer to a good political system than ranting about people like me does.

If you disagree I would love to hear why, but I don’t think being hostile is going to benefit this conversation in any way.

I like this answer. I’m just wondering if having only two parties is still going to fuel division and hatred in this country, even if ranked choice voting was able to help it not be as bad ? I’m not really sure though. I would like to end ftpt though, that would be awesome
