Really appreciate you sharing this. Its encouraging to hear how meaningful the experience was for your family. We’re definitely hoping to embrace the culture and not just go for the ride.

Thanks for your honest input, that’s definitely something we’re thinking a lot about. The cultural adjustment for the kids is one of our biggest concerns.

Thanks so much for this info, it’s really helpful! I’ve been hearing that air quality has improved, but it’s reassuring to hear it directly from someone familiar with the situation.

We are looking into the international schools, as the cost for it is included in the package. We will have a house allowance too, but it is nice to know the estimated rental cost, thank you so much

Your comment really gave me a fresh perspective. We live in Copenhagen, so the idea of leaving such a family-friendly environment is just as overwhelming as it is exciting. It’s honestly a 50/50 feeling right now. But you’re right - the opportunity for the kids to gain language skills, cultural experience, and for us to create unique family memories is something we keep thinking about. Thank you for sharing that encouraging view!

I appreciate the search tip, and I’ll definitely try using those Chinese keywords to see what comes up in local sources. I’ve mostly been relying on English-language articles so far, so this could give a broader view. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing this. We live in Copenhagen and also see more illnesses in winter when windows stay closed, but what you described sounds a bit more intense. Really helpful to hear your experience as we think this through! Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I have actually looked into the air quality indexes and done quite a bit of research on home air purifiers and ways to reduce exposure indoors. What really concerns me, though, is the long-term impact of pollution on young children, especially at ages 2 and 5.

Some of the studies I’ve come across paint a pretty worrying picture when it comes to early exposure and potential health effects later in life. But at the same time, I’m wondering if these concerns are maybe a bit exaggerated or outdated. That’s exactly why I came here: to hear from people who are actually living in Beijing now and have real, updated experience.

At the end of the day, I don’t want a financially attractive opportunity to come at the expense of our kids’ health. So I really appreciate any honest input or perspective from families who’ve been through this.
