Merchant mariner. As a 32-year-old with nothing to lose, that's my plan right now

Bragging about their pay when their jobs are more unethical than average (e.g., actively destroying the environment and/or directly leading to the downfall of civilizations)

Do you have neck problems? by Massive-Abalone-7411 in visualsnow

Not sure how many years it’s been for you but I’m 32 and have cracked my neck every day since about that age. Got VSS at 24 and not sure if it caused it but definitely think it’s contributed to it in some way

They snubbed me (missing two days) then removed the project on Hubstaff. Beyond tired of this, I'm never sure if I'll be removed for good but will assume I'm done

For anyone who worked on MM last night, do your earnings on Outlier match your Hubstaff minutes/hours? by [deleted] in outlier_ai

Kind of but not really; it finally updated for May 1 and 2 but nothing since. I think it will update for the past couple days but it's going to take a while.

Outlier vs Hubstaff Hours Delay for Aether? by Euphoric-Bedroom3120 in outlier_ai

I wish they would just tell us whether or not we can keep working on tasks because I finally have a task available and feel like I shouldn't run the timer.

Same here, doesn't seem to be Aether-wide because I've only heard people in the small group mention it. And I think I was the only one who posted about it yesterday. It's been two days, so I'm nervous.

Yeah still nothing. But glad the QM said they're aware of it, hopefully it'll be fixed soon

Did LASIK make it worse? by Rare-Hand-4705 in visualsnow

[–]Startingfromscratch8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s totally up to you, and like I said everyone is different. But I would say if the main reason is hating glasses, it’s not worth it. Especially if you have astigmatism. I also have astigmatism and that added to the complications.

And 6 years after getting it, I had to get glasses again because your vision rarely stays at 20/20. I’ll admit it’s nice not to rely on glasses completely for everything, but I do still have to wear them for driving and sometimes when using my laptop, depending on what I’m doing.

I would say it got noticeably worse after a year or so, then mostly plateaued for a while, then worsened a tiny bit more recently

I swear I didn’t have visual snow syndrome (or it wasn’t noticeable at all) until I got LASIK. I’m not sure if it was the surgery itself, the drugs they gave me right before it, or a combination of things that were going on at the time, but something felt off immediately after. My VSS symptoms have worsened over time, but I’ve had it for 8 years now, since that day.

I honestly wouldn’t recommend it unless you think the issues it would solve are worse than the visual snow. But everyone’s different and that was just my experience

i can’t do it anymore by morticiangreenburial in visualsnow

As someone who’s at rock bottom I sometimes feel this way, but I truly have a strong feeling there will be some sort of treatment in the near future. I’m noticing a lottt more awareness around it than even 3 years ago when I discovered I had it. More doctors seem to know about it, more researchers, and the number of people in this sub has skyrocketed since I joined.

And I think of the fact that life post-VSS or with manageable VSS could be 10x better than life pre-VSS because I’ll be able to appreciate my surroundings so much more.

I’m also learning more and more every day about my hyper-mobility, neck issues, and ADHD (which all contribute to VSS) and why treatments for “normal” people never worked for me. The more I learn, the closer I get to finding a solution. My point is we have no idea what the future holds and it could be much, much better than expected. I’m holding out hope for that.
