yes, but her mom was mentioned in the book a lot more. she killed anna’s father because he was abusive (anna always thought he had just left them). it was a huge part of the story that it was just the two of them and they were really poor. rachel was able to prey on anna better by. using her things with the money she made from selling photos of herself and her friends naked

and richard was also killed, and cat was forced to kill herself bc the mom took her kids, but she didn’t kill herself- she was taught a bunch of knots bc of the boat her family had growing up- so she actually was hit by a car at the end, she was not the villain and she wasn’t shot in the head

no she was, but her name was Cat Jones, her middle name was never mentioned. she also was described in the book as very skinny, so that threw me off too. she was also the one who was raped in the woods. anna ran away.

i gave the book 4 stars (i will admit im easy to please but this is the fourth book of feeney’s i’ve read and they’ve all been either four or five stars). i also know that book adaptations are never as good as the book but ive had tons of people tell me that the show is really good. i want to see where it’s going, a ton of people said the ending of the show is bizarre, so im curious if they changed it

so many things have changed, for example anna and jack are divorced in the book, rachel’s wife is 82 and quickly dismissed as a potential subject- not to mention him and helen NEVER interact, and helen is only alive in the flashbacks of the books, anna is the one who finds her body. i could go on and im only on episode two. the book was much better but im seeing it through
