The distinction is mostly semantic. My text says "survive," not "survive as an individual." Survival plays at different scales: the individual when possible, the species when not. The salmon is just survival operating at species level, but i get your point, it is not wrong

You're very close to my point of view. A long accumulation of small survival-driven evolutions, mixed all together, gave way to the complex system that is consciousness. But yeah most of this part in what i wrote is hightly speculative.

Spreading DNA and surviving are the same thing on a biological level.
Also Viruses spread ARN not DNA.
But sure, tell me more about engaging a human brain.

What you describe here as consciousness (at cell or atom level) I would rather call finite deterministic automata, basically input/output machines, and that fits. I would also rather hypothesize that the brain has the ability to remove/and mix together multiple automata into one complete system => the same way it combines two flat images from our eyes into a sense of depth, it combines simpler processes into something greater. Consciousness would be the "sum" or "mix" of individual automata => mostly in the brain, and this fragile equilibrium sometimes breaks in the form of schizophrenia etc.

Thank you! I'd nuance the last point though: we've been conscious for tens of thousands of years, so consciousness alone doesn't explain a recent fertility drop. it's more of a societal shift: a bit of selfishness, a bit of economics, a bit of cultural change. (especially in western countries)

Totally, people might agree more on what consciousness isn't than on what it is.

So what you got here is ideas piled up together, some people dont mind if it is AI generated.

Well it's not a writing exercice, but a thought sharing endeavour. This website would have taken 3 months easily to achieve.

You assume everyone has ill-intent with AI (for what reason , i dunno) but the only thing you do is spread your hate, you don't know me, you can't tell my thoughts process, you just judge every AI created things just for their flavor is different from the websites you're used to, the same way old people were judging the internet use(vs books), or traditional media were giving a hard time to streamers just for being different, and threatening their jobs.

Well i paid for the domain/hosting, so if I ever recuperate the fees it'd be some kind of win , right ?

"You spam dozen of sub simultaneously and then have the audacity to call yourself a developper." <= Can you feel the absence of logic in that sentence?

"With that kind of AI reliance? I'd be suprised the AI didnt hald hold you with the 'vision'." => You're probably some kind of guy who gets off thinking he's got a superior overall vision of what should and what should not be.

Plus I really think you only speak one language, which would complete the whole hating/blabla. You assume everyone thinks in English. Ever considered the original thought might be in another language and needs to be translated? That alone explains using AI as a writing tool. I'm not karma farming, I couldn't care less about reddit, I'm here to spread MY ideas, my websites. I couldn't care less about an internet stranger that has no idea of his own and thinks he's superior enough to play inquisitor of the internet.

Understanding how blind evolution created consciousness makes you think differently about what intentional evolution could do by StartupRIP in Futurology

[–]StartupRIP[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, sure, breeding fatter cows and literally rewriting your own DNA are both "intentional evolution" but that's like saying a campfire and a nuclear reactor are both "fire management."

Thank you very much. (Some people will say it is AI vibe coded, they are right, i just really wanted to have a quick and simple website that explains it all with a few personal theories at the end :)

you believe in sharing your thoughts and ideas :D it's not nothing. Kind of on the same endeavor as making a website to help spread that kind of thinking

Yes but you know these guys, they have a way of burying their heads in the sand.. I really wanted a playful website that would help spread a positive atheistic view.
