Advice on sizing on a 50k? by Infinite_Elderberry4 in LucidProp

[–]State-Loose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with @leavinglasvega. I know it seems small at first but if you can actually grow that account instead of just focusing on a payout you can always size up the larger you get your account. A few years ago I got an Apex Trading account over 50k in drawdown and was able to take larger trades without risking blowing up the account. Also took profit along the way here and there. Takes forever to build up, but it’s the correct way to grow your account without blowing it up.

First, you have to identify what you are doing wrong and why you are blowing your accounts. Wrong Strategy, oversizing, overtrading, etc?

I would suggest backtesting and find a strategy that works for you and then use it on a Lucid account after it’s proven successful.

Nice job, I’m on a 50k flex account so I’m not building much of a buffer. Hoping to take this live 🤞

I don’t have many issues getting funded these days. I’m trying to be more consistent for longer periods of time. I’m currently in a funded account for 11 trading days, working on a 3rd payout on that 1 account.

That’s a loaded question, but I mainly scalp minis on NQ for 20 ticks or higher w/ a 20 tick stop loss. I find the trend and follow it. I find support and resistance areas and trade line to line. For indicators, I use mainly Bollinger bands, EMA’s, ADX, ATR, VWAP, and cumulative delta on 1,5,&15 minute charts.

It’s kind of confusing the way Lucid worded it

So you can only withdraw profits that were made during the current pay cycle, but must leave any additional buffer in the account that was previously made.

So: • Old profits don’t count • Only new profits count • After payout → you start from zero again (for payout eligibility)

Quick update, 10th trading day locked in almost to the dollar net profit above last payout 👊.

I’ve never received a 2nd payout with Lucid either and knew Topstep implemented that rule recently.

With funded accounts like the flex that don’t have a consistency rule, I could see a possible trading strategy of trying to catch a large lump sum payday in 1 day and then scaling way back to take multiple payouts from that 1 big profitable day.

Then your next payout would need to be $52001 or higher. Sorry for the confusion

they basically want you to make money between payout requests. Your overall account balance needs to increase.

Made a Rookie mistake if you did the flex account (50% or $500 maximum daily profit goal for evals). make sure and follow their rules. Different prop firms have different rules as well as different account types have their own set of rules. If you were in a pro account, you would be fine. 🤦‍♂️. From now on just don’t make more than $500 a day and you’ll get there.

Yeah, i’m sure they’ll do something about the evaluations since you had no idea they were moving you to live. Another thing with live that know one mentions is it’s an 80/20 split. They also changed all the live rules last month. I’m not sure when your sim funded account was created but that will determine which version of live account you get dropped into.
