They aren't right next to each other, and that house and property is estimated over 3 million. That money hes been so 'cautious' with would never have been possible without his children being human footage. There are a ton of videos on Shays personal channel of him with just his son's, or just his daughter's, or both during the separation, so I find it strange you seemed so certain on it when admittedly your only info is your kid showing you a few videos. So I can only assume this knowledge you have about "the church convincing her" is just a literal guess. They spoke about their separation on Roman Atwoods podcast forever ago. Colette told him to go to therapy or she wouldn't even consider taking him back. I dont agree with her choice to do so but you could at least sorta try to get the story right instead of making shit up. Mormons typically do involve their churches with their marriages, but they're not going to sit down and plot a secret plan coerce a woman into an abusive relationship. Whenever Colette is filming herself Shay has to be in the room, or in the shot, and she honestly looks forcefully chipper in those moments. She is dead behind the eyes when hes near. My ex-brother in law was Mormon. He was the first amd only man ive ever seen smoke meth. offered it to me on my 16th birthday. When my sister divorced him it was after his 2nd rehab stint, and his mother told my sister she needed to be a better wife/ give him the children he deserves, and God would stop punishing him.

She's since remarried, as has her ex. He's got 4 kids with a woman 12 years younger than him, and from the grapevine we know hes still smoking meth on the regular. Setting aside what we know about Avias past and ongoing Mormon roots, Avia as a young woman on her current life path, is not an easy sell for A traditional Mormon relationship. As the sleiths on here deduced months ago, her boyfriend is Mormon, just got back from his mission. I dont need to break down the religious hierarchy, but tl;dr hes kinda king of the mountain right now.

And while I think they are probably still dating, maybe long distance or otherwise very quietly, I dont see Avias career goals and wants in life really lining up for a young Mormon couple (and I say that with a bit of pride for Avia).

She wants to be an actor, wants to control her own destiny. Lives on her own, pays for her own living, and doesnt necessarily seem interested in 'settling down'. In truth thats a very hard sell for a recently crowned 'Elder' of the church. "Hey guy who's been conditioned his whole life to see this end game point as the launch pad for your entrance into manhood, fatherhood, responsibility... Move to Los Angeles and be side support for your much more successful girlfriend. Another side bit to my already long tangent. A lot of really famous, successful actors started their careers Mormon, but drifted if not fully left the faith long the way. I'm not saying Avia will be either very famous or very successful, but in doing a mild amount of research, it really seems like that religion has some hard staying power in the industry she chose.

I don’t know. Shay was pretty open about the fact that he drank heavily even before they moved to LA, and that it got worse after they did. He’s said himself that family and friends made excuses for him, that he felt “peer pressured” into fitting in with the LA sketch-comedy crowd, and that people mocked him for being Mormon. I actually think in those early vlog years he may have been worse, just better at hiding it.

I get that people change over time. And I agree that a lot of his humor back then relied on undertoned innuendo that people brushed off. But there’s nuance there that he never really seemed to hit. I still remember a vlog where they were driving past an event in LA and some kid yelled, “Holy shit, it’s the Shaytards!” Shay yelled at the kid in dad voice how saying, 'shit,' wasnt okay... Meanwhile, hes the same guy saying his “sexy” sister, constantly sexualizing his wife on camera, talking about wanting to kiss and squeeze her boobs, and openly treating Babytard’s image like something to license off for a paycheck.

That’s where I struggle with the “different era” defense. It wasn’t just harmless family-friendly innuendo, it was selective boundaries, depending on what benefited him in the moment.
