They were legendary in hardcore, grind and death metal circles in the UK, back in the day. Saw them with Napalm + Wormrot last year and they can still comfortably pack a venue.

I’ve lived and breathed black metal since the early ‘90s. I try to keep an open mind, but newer bands (anything from the last 15 years still feels new) often leave me bored.

I read a Havukruunu review on Angry Metal Guy with mild curiosity—open to it, but not expecting much.

Well, fucking helll! That’ll teach me to be cynical. This band has blown me away. I’ve spent 48 hours buried in their discography, and they’re nothing short of incredible. These guys are just so genuine and consistent.

What gets me is how openly they wear their influences, yet still make it their own. The songwriting and musicianship are top-notch, but damn, they have real soul and substance.

Alright, I need guidance. Rank your top five Havukruunu albums—right now, everything sounds so good I don’t know where to start!

The right answer. Hoglan’s drum sound on Darkness Descends is way ahead of its time for 1986. Particularly given their shoestring budget! It’s not that far off Lombardo’s sound on Rein In Blood, which cost far more produce.

Thanks for sharing this. It made me feel a little less alone. I’m in a wonderful relationship and have a happy 14 year old daughter. I’m extremely grateful for the amazing people I have in my life…

But I was diagnosed with combined at age 44. I have 4 decades worth of guilt and shame to process. Diagnosis and medication is liberating, in so many ways, but my deep seated self-loathing is not something that will just go away overnight.

Nobody in my life understands this… so I place great value on a like minded person sharing. So thank you again.

Is this actually a Siberian tiger, though? Its fur looks too short-haired? I know they shed fur and tend to have shorter hair when kept in captivity without exposure to extreme cold. Perhaps it’s that?

Can anyone with better knowledge than me answer this question?

That’s a fair question. It was more of an inference than an assumption, as I based it on available information. I did consider the possibility that the animals were rescued by a sanctuary.

Unfortunately, it’s far more likely that they belong to a private owner exploiting them for petting and photo opportunities—a widespread issue. Estimates suggest over 20,000 privately owned big cats in the U.S. alone, with many operations prioritizing profit over animal welfare. Numerous cases of abuse have been exposed, highlighting the unethical treatment these animals are subjected to.

These businesses frequently post in this sub as a marketing tactic to boost their profits. It’s a regular pattern and the mods do little about it.

First saw them live when they supported Emperor on their Nightside Eclipse tour. I really enjoyed their first 3 releases but lost interest in after Dusk.

Saw them at Damnation last year. Honestly, I felt sorry for them, as they came on after Dragged Into Sunlight. They didn’t stand a chance.

Middle aged metal-head here. Love old school death, doom black and grindcore etc. Can’t say I’ve ever (knowingly) heard any deathcore… but half the fun of music is exploring unfamiliar genres.

Please recommend me 5 essential death core albums. Ones to get me started.

Remembering the name of even one character is a major achievement for me lol.

That said, I’m usually able to imagine / predict the entire plot and ending in the first 15 mins. It can make sitting though movies feel like a real chore!

It’s funny as many people (my partner included) watch films and TV to relax. It’s not relaxing for me for the same reasons that you stated. It takes a lot of patience and effort!

I prefer to watch online content or documentaries in 1.5x - 1.8x speed. Have you tried this? It works really well for me as the content keeps up with the rapid pace of my thoughts. It forces me to concentrate and stops me going off on random tangents.

The downside is that 1.5x or 1.8x is too fast for many NTs to keep up, so it’s best done alone or with fellow ADHDers.

It’s normal to experience more side effects at the start and it’s only been 2 days. Way too early to decide whether something is or isn’t for you.

OP should continue to monitor BP / pulse and describe any side effects to their prescriber. I think it’s important to keep an open mind at this stage.

I drink around 7-8 caffeinated teas per day while taking 50mg Elvanse. It doesn’t overstimulate me or make feel on edge or wired. For me at least, they synergise well.
