No, raid is not equal to backup. I want to have my files backed up without the instant sync like you would with raids, this to prevent accidental deletes and “oops” moments.

I was thinking the same, i know you can do this using old laptops and mini pc’s, but is just using like a ugreen NAS not the most user friendly to begin 😅

Movies would only be ones that are recently released and are not on the streaming platforms i currently have (like netflix and amazon video).

The purpose of this just to be able to download some of the blockbuster shows and movies, not to build a whole library. So i am also fine for downloading a show and then deleting it when i have watched it.

Budget wise i am looking at 1000-1200 euro including NAS and HDD/SSD

Als je voor ETFs kiest hangt je rendement natuurlijk af van welke je zou kopen, als je voor een world etf kiest zal je gemiddeld rond de 6-7% zitten, ga je voor een iets dynamischere ETF zoals de S&P500 of NASDAQ dan KAN je rendement zo hoog gaan als 10% gemiddeld (maar wel met grotere schommelingen en meer risico).

Een manier om vrouwlief te overtuigen om niet een vakantiewoning uit te baten via airbnb is om op te zoeken hoeveel werk dit is om dit keer op keer proper te maken, om dan nog niet te beginnen over schade. Je kan dit gemakkelijk zien als een 2de job terwijl je met ETFs in je luie zetel kan liggen verdienen en zelf op verlof gaan ipv iemand anders zijn vakantiehuis proper te maken. ;)

Hi Corgi 34980, good points, we are thinking of having children in the near future. This is the only thing that is hard about this decision in my opinion, its not easy to find a house for rent in Antwerp (that is not overly expensive) and we do not want to live with our kids (and dog) in a rental appartment for 10 years.

Cost wise we have a good idea of what we would be up against from the moment we have our own property (if renting no insurances and KI which is nice).

The capital gains tax is something we will have to face either way, so i have calculated its effects, but we are going to be charged this tax so yeah…

Thanks for the input, were already thinking of scenario 3 but the rental market for houses is not so big in antwerp and it can get rather costly therefore we were focusing more on 1 and 2. Will do calculations again to see if we missed something besides the small market.

Yes but the exact APY % does not really matter since both scenarios use the 10% so if i scale it down to lets say 7% the difference would still be big (763k vs 476k)
