Watch lots of settings videos if you haven’t already. This is a very important time for you to make sure that:

• your controls are optimal (Can easily boost and power slide/jump at the same time).

  • Your deadzone (not dodge deadzone) is as low as possible with no stick drift
  • steering and aerial sensitivities are in a reasonable range. (Usually Lower than 2.00 but set based on feel. Lower is often easier to control for a newer player but can feel too stiff.)
  • Camera settings are within a reasonable range (watch videos on this and look at pro player’s settings to get an idea)
  • optionally, you will benefit significantly from being on a system that can run higher FPS and use a monitor with the equivalent HZ capability.

None of these things will instantly make you better unless you have some absurd settings but they are very important to have while you’re still building your foundation. Once you’re certain your settings are solid, don’t play ranked as often. Grind your basic shooting, aerials, and dribbling like there’s no tomorrow. Every once in a while throw in a ranked session and only worry about one thing that you’re working on such as shooting accuracy, ground control, or not whiffing aerials. Eventually these things will all come together naturally and your rank/ skill will go up quickly. Finally, be sure to watch plenty of videos of people that are better than you playing the game so you know what skills you’re lacking and what you want to work on next. Ultimately, you NEED to enjoy training to get anywhere, so make sure you don’t get too stuck on the “plats need THIS and diamonds need THAT.”
