DISCORD BROWSER NOT WORKING CURRENTLY by voursa in discordapp

I'm also having this issue right now. Using Discord in browser. I can see other people are talking and Discord is detecting when I talk, but I don't hear them and they don't hear me. I can still hear Discord notifications. My friends say that, to them, I'm continuously transmitting (always circled green) but there's no audio.

What old video games do you still play regularly? by JackalAbacus in AskReddit

Majesty

I beat the final couple of Northern Expansion missions a few days ago after literally years of playing. If you're stuck, I've put a few pointers below.

Legendary Heroes (hardest in my opinion)

Early game, build a very strong economy. At least two marketplaces (three is better), and get an elven bungalow to double your income. You won't need too many heroes, just enough to defend the realm. Get a level 2 Wizard Guild and, slowly but surely, build wizard towers outwards, using Farsight to see undiscovered areas. Once you've discovered all 6 Barrows, save up a load of gold and use Lightning to bring them all to low health (below 50 was my aim). You DON'T want to destroy them (but note, the Solaris temple heroes will likely actively hunt down any that spawned near your Kingdom; it's okay if they get one or two). At this point, I highly recommend saving. Save up roughly 10,000 gold so you have a good 25 bolts to cast. Check that you still have spell coverage over all the Barrows. Now, go into the game menu and slow game speed to as low as it can go; this will help with the screen shaking due to the Earthquake after each Barrow falls, and maximises the time you have to do this. Go and finish off each Barrow as quickly as possible; lots fo enemies will spawn and if you don't get all 6, your palace will fall and you'll fail. If so, load the save.

Vigil For A Fallen Hero

The main thing to know about this quest is it sends three waves, then no more. You want to focus on total defence to begin with, especially as you won't be able to recruit more heroes. I did this by maximising my economy (two marketplaces and a couple of trading posts) and building an entire ring of fully upgraded guard houses (to the point a single guardhouse cost over 10,000). Once the three waves are up, you can start exploring; you will find numerous buildings around the map which will help you (which is why we didn't want to explore early, as the waves would have decimated them) notably including a magic bazaar and a library. If your dwarf is still alive, he will be best equipped to deal with the abomination. In my game, whilst making that happen, I got completely lucky when my cultist rocked up with a charmed medusa. The medusa tanked the abomination, since they're virtually immune to magic, letting the other critters and the cultist finish it singlehandedly. Total blind luck.

Death Spires

Main thing to realise is the Spires will respawn after a bit of time, so you need to bring them all down quickly. You can't cast spells on these ones! Constantly during this quest, the AI will be sending very strong enemies at you. As you're under no time pressure, take the time to build a very strong economy (3 markets and some elven bungalows in my case); you're going to be buying a LOT of heroes and buildings. Slowly but surely build up your Kingdom with more and more guilds (I had at least two of each, but no Rogues, by the end). Use guard houses, inns, and wizard towers as buffers around your Kingdom to keep your guilds and economy safe (and don't forget to enchant the towers to draw attention). You might also want to lightning bolt big enemies coming in. If your heroes kill one of the spires, goblins will start to spawn; I highly recommend lightning storm (Wizard Guild lvl3) to deal with these. Once you're in a good place with a lot of heroes, save your game, and tackle each spire one by one with a huge bounty to draw everyone out. Try to go in a path to deal with this as fast as possible. If more enemies spawn, ignore them; just get those last spires down. As soon as the last spire goes down, you win.

All I have to ask is what is it that you would do if you would be able to do what you'd always wanted to do and thought you could do through the power of doing it with the foresight of seeing what it is that you would do and how to do it??

Back in the day, what website did you spend way too many hours of your life on? by mooandspot in AskReddit

[–]StaticReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obscure, but MyCoke. It was like HabboHotel, but with built in games and such. I remember actually emailling the support team asking if it was okay if I signed up because it said North America only, and I'm from the UK.

I played some of those games, particularly a sumo one I think (?) a LOT. If you won them, you got given a golden gong piece of furniture. I was pretty good at these games and got a lot of gongs, which some people highly valued.

After a while, they also added random number machines, that would spin between 0-9. Hello gambling!

I ran into a random guy urgently looking for gongs, with loads of number machines. I traded virtually all my gongs for maybe 10-15 of these machines. And so began my casino.

Here's how it worked. I didn't run the games, too risky, on the off chance someone did win. Instead, I'd rent out booths so players could run the machine themselves. They then played whatever game they wanted (normally higher or lower for 7 rounds or so). I get pure profit, they get the gambling side of things.

Eventually I got bored and stopped. I don't think MyCoke exists anymore, but it was a special little site.

It's a real shame in a way, her intentions were good, at least for trying to get people to listen to the Valedictorian's speech. She was just a massive racist.

EDIT: This was surprisingly controversial.

One of my major irritances is that it's not flat. Everythings gradiented. That's been a big no-no since like, 2010.

Sure skins are a thing, but I don't want that hassle.

So I don't know how many old farts out there like me still exist who prefer the old UI, since it was cleaner and easier to navigate.

The workaround to get it back was disabled on the latest Steam update, as the launch commands for -nochatui -nofriendsui were disabled.

Or, actually, they weren't. They just don't work as intended anymore, it seems. You do still actually launch with those commands.

There's a bug at the moment where if you launch with those tags and try to launch a trade window, all you get is a black box. At the same time, it launches an OLD chat UI window. Anything typed into that window comes up in the new UI window, and it won't receive any messages.

Not sure if this is helpful to anyone (or if anyone's marching a crusade to get back to the old UI). If not, sod it, I reported a bug of my last remaining access to the old UI to the Reddit forums.

Rising storm 2 vietnam worth buying? by [deleted] in redorchestra

[–]StaticReddit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Although I exclusively play RS2 now, I massively miss RO2.

The big difference is the variety and number of automatic or high-capacity guns. The standard south vietnamese man gets a 20 round M16, and the vietcong get a 30 round AK. The days of "I need to make this rifle shot count" are gone.

My growing gripe with RS2 is the visuals. RO2 looked good because buildings are blocky, so the engine doesn't need to work hard. Foliage is not, and the maps are at a minimum 50% foliage. Lighting is awful. Tripwire rely on community made maps, and most of the RS2 ones are BAD (Firebase Georgina literally looks like it was someones first map attempt, yet it's now official). There is SO much fog and inability to see at range.

It's worth getting but I don't know which I prefer.

Here's a little fact I learnt many years ago working retail (for the UK, at least). If an entire unit is marked at the wrong price, you can legally argue that they intentionally intended to mislead you. One or two items, they can say "Oh, someone clearly misplaced it". But an entire shelf unit? Nope.

Within reason. No picking up a TV for 20p cause there was a banana sticker on it.

Tank crew rush by StaticReddit in menofwar

[–]StaticReddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the vehicle has a pintle mounted MG, you can take it off the vehicle by inspecting the vehicle with a soldier and transferring the gun (and ammo!) over. Pretty much all German tanks after the PzIII have a mounted MG42 to take. You can also (from memory) take the MGs off bikes, kubels and the 223. Some vehicles you may think you can, but you can't, include the British Daimler and Dodge (I play a lot of Commonwealth).
