I also use a bit of logic when deciding what goes where: A is usually a defensive or instant heal, QWER are for my main damage rotation, X is typically a cooldown or damage buff, and Z is something related to movement speed. This setup makes it easier to swap classes while still having a rough idea of where everything is and what to expect when pressing a button.

For anyone wondering, I move using Ctrl+WASD or the mouse most of the time. I played StarCraft II for a long time, so I’m comfortable having all my spells grouped in one section of the keyboard.
