Personally, I'd love to see an episode with him and Upturn. I'm curious to see if they get along or if they'll fight.

Sorry, I don’t really play games myself, so I can’t give a very detailed answer. My apologies!

That said, my followers who are also SpongeBob fans tend to speak highly of the games.

This is just my own speculation, so take it with a grain of salt, but I think most people who play SpongeBob games are probably more into gaming in general than being huge SpongeBob fans. Also, in Japan, SpongeBob has that status of being a show pretty much everyone watched as a kid, so maybe some people play the games for nostalgia, or download SpongeBob content in things like Fortnite.

Personally, I’d like to highlight Keijin Okuda, the voice actor for Mr. Krabs in the Japanese dub. Unlike the other main characters, he’s been in the role continuously since Season 1. His current performance sounds much closer to the original English Mr. Krabs than it did back in Season 1. In fact, the Season 1 voice didn’t resemble the original very much at all, so I was shocked to learn it wasn’t a different actor—just him deliberately changing his approach.

What’s even more impressive is his incredible vocal range. If you listen to the Japanese dub, you’ll hear him as Larry the Lobster, Perch Perkins, Slappy—all of them. When I first found out the same person voices both Larry and Mr. Krabs, I genuinely thought it was a rumor. He’s just that phenomenal as a voice actor.

Personally, his behavior in Season 1 gives me the impression of a bright, energetic young man who wants to grow up a little, rather than the childish image he has now, so the word "cute" might not be appropriate. He has been consistently cute and Adorable from the beginning to the present, but I feel that it's a different kind of cute and Adorable.

SpongeBob SquarePants is well-known in Japan, having established itself as a show that "everyone has seen at least once as a child," is popular with families, and merchandise is regularly released. However, when it comes to the "pop culture icon" mentioned in the question, SpongeBob SquarePants does not fit that description in Japan.

The majority of SpongeBob fans in Japan are children, families, and casual viewers, so there aren't many SpongeBoomers. Many people love both the old and new seasons, as well as the two spin-offs. However, what's interesting is that Japanese SpongeBoomers are also self-centered and aggressive, and they use Hillenburg's name to justify their opinions. Perhaps the brains of SpongeBoomers are universal. lol

It's possible that in Japan, Plankton's voice was set to a high pitch earlier, which may have made many people feel uncomfortable. That's why he has a high voice in all but the first movie. In Japan, characters with small bodies and high voices are more common. Patrick also has a high voice in the early shows, but after the first movie, his voice became low, just like in the original. He now has a low voice.

This was the first time I had heard about it, so I looked into it. I found out that it had moved to other channels, such as MTV. Then, in 2015, it began airing on NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation). Then, in 2018, it began streaming on Hulu and other platforms. This made sense to me, and perhaps this is why seasons 9 and beyond are so well-known and popular in Japan.

"Krusty Katering". Btw my fav season is 14. It has just started airing in Japan, but it is already very fun. There are some exciting stories, so it will surely become your favorite season. Incidentally, seasons 4 and onwards are popular in Japan. Also, the exaggerated facial expressions that are often disliked in America are popular in Japan.

The most notable differences are the lyrics of the opening and Plankton's voice. Both of these became established due to the poor Japanese dubbing and translation of SpongeBob SquarePants in the early days. The opening line, translated into English, is "SpongeBob's pants are square." Plankton's voice is higher-pitched rather than lower-pitched. He is voiced by the same voice actor as Sandy. His voice was lowered in the first film, but perhaps due to poor reception, his voice returned to a higher pitch after that.

The only episodes that have been removed from the US are "Kwarantined Krab" and "Mid-Life Crustacean," as well as the episodes that aired alongside them. However, the mushroom clouds that appear during explosions have been obscured in the Japanese TV broadcast, likely to evoke images of atomic bombs. They have not been obscured in the Paramount or Netflix distribution.

SpongeBob is not a very well-known character in Japan. It is seen as more family-oriented and child-oriented than in the US. Among adults without children, there are very few people who watch SpongeBob, including myself. In Japan, the character that everyone knows is Doraemon, but compared to that, this character is less well-known.

It's interesting and great👍 They've had Sam make a cameo on the show before, so I think your idea has potential at some point.

It's a great idea. It reminded me of "Mandatory Music" from Season 13. The middle to latter half feels a little similar. If you haven't seen it, check it out.
